- Background Information The intern will be placed at the Transition Initiative for Somalia (TIS) Project Unit in Nairobi, to assist in Database Administration as well as support all TIS Information Systems which are integral components of the project and play a vital role in Grant Reporting.
IOM is working to stabilize and strengthen the Governments of Somalia and, Somaliland to improve service delivery to the people through Technical Assistance, Rehabilitation of infrastructure, Peace building and Social Reconciliation.
2. Objective of the assignment Working directly under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Grants Database Assistant, the intern will provide assistance in Data entry, Data review and reporting, Database administration and upload of Information on the various Internet Portals used by TIS and its partners.

The Intern’s assignments will include: 1. Database administration, management and troubleshooting of the project database 2. Data entry on various platforms, database and portals 3. Grant documentation organization and filling 4. Assist in Network Administration and Support for all TIS information systems 5. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
- Personal development: Acquire technical knowledge in Database Administration; Data processing, manipulation and reporting; Internet Applications management; Geographical Information Systems and Grant management skills.
- Qualifications
o Diploma in IT/ Computer Science or related field o Database Training in MS Access and SQL o Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an added advantage o Hardware and software management installation, administrations and management training o Excellent written and spoken English (preferably at mother tongue level) o Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet applications. o Data entry experience o An understanding of Network Administration o Understanding of web solutions and technologies o Understanding of filling procedures
