We are looking for an individual who is organized, highly-motivated and results-oriented to join the Community Based Health Management Information System (CBHMIS) TAARIFA Project as a Project Assistant. It is being implemented by AMREF Kenya in collaboration with MOPHS in Oloitokitok (Kajiado County) and Samia (Busia County). Its mandate is to increase capacity of healthcare providers on management and use of information technology for health action planning and decision making; increase demand for health services; and increase evidence of new technologies for demand creation and community strategy implementation for advocacy.
The position reports to the Project Manager and is based in Nairobi
Purpose of the Job:
To assist in technical expertise, support project activities and implementation of the project strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in co-coordinating and participating in planning and implementation of project activities.
- Implementing project activities in conjunction with community-based organizations in Oloitokitok and Samia.
- Initiating CBHMIS processes, facilitating meetings, and conducting training on CBHMIS and community patient referral system.
- Developing, adapting and disseminating of relevant technical materials to support field activities that include system design, programming and use of mobile phone applications in data collection.
- Maintaining records of field activities, monitoring and generating reports on implementation and impact of those activities.
- Networking and liaising with community organizations (NGOs, CBOs, FBOs, and Youth groups) and relevant partners to improve quality of supportive care at community level.
- Assist in managing relevant project financial transactions.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the project.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related field and a Diploma in Computer Programming from recognized institutions.
- Training in CBHMIS is essential to this position.
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience. Exposure to community level activity implementation with health-related NGOs and facilitation/ training experience will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work with member organizations, the Government, development partners while developing and maintaining positive relationships.
- Excellent spoken and written English and Kiswahili, remarkable interpersonal skills, strong report writing skills and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Self motivated, able to work in a multicultural environment and maintain confidentiality, and is honest and mature.
