Organizational Setting |
The Division of General Services is one of the six Divisions in the Department of Management. It provides service functions through the Director's Office and five Sections: Facilities Management, Seibersdorf Facilities Management, Archives and Records Management, Transport and General Support and Commissary Management Section. The Commissary at the VIC is a tax and duty-free store that is operated under the authority of the Director General of the IAEA. It was established as a self-sustaining and non-profit making operation in order to facilitate the purchase of limited quantities of consumer goods by the diplomats of Permanent Missions of member states accredited to the UN organizations, staff members of the UN organizations based at the VIC as well as of other authorized organizations. Under the overall direction of the Director, Division of General Services and the direct management of the Head, Commissary Management Section, the Commissary consists of three Units: Procurement, Sales and Warehouse, and Invoice Control. The Sales and Warehouse Unit is divided into three major Groups: the Main Sales Group, the Cosmetics and Boutique Group and the Warehouse Group. The Cosmetics and Boutique Group is responsible for the display and sale of all goods in the Cosmetics and Boutique areas. As a member of a team of Commissary staff, the incumbent actively sells the products in the Commissary sales areas, replenishes shelves and works at the cash register: all these tasks are physically strenuous since they involve long hours of standing, walking around the shop floor, bending and lifting of boxes and products. Work may be assigned by the Group Supervisors or the Head, Sales and Warehouse Unit. The customer-oriented environment demands a willingness to work shift and, sometimes at short notice, long hours. |
Main Purpose |
Under the immediate supervision of the Group Supervisor and the general supervision of the Unit Head, Sales and Warehouse. The incumbent actively sells the various products in the Commissary, proactively assists customers on the sales floor, replenishes shelves, arranges assortments, assists with visual merchandising and promotions, product displays, performs cashier duties as well as all other assigned duties independently. |
Working Relationships |
The incumbent interacts with Commissary customers of all levels regarding product related enquiries (product locations, product properties, prices, promotions, etc.), provides assistance and advice to customers' specific questions. He/she exchanges routine information with other Commissary staff of all other Units. Furthermore, the incumbent supports external contractors and sales staff on the Commissary's working environment. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at €30 689 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), six weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance. |
