Working closely with the ECD Specialist, Grants Coordinator, and the NO Finance team, the Project Accountant will be responsible for the following:
Payment processing: matching requisitions to LPOs and invoices, ensuring they are duly approved subject to approval limits. Ensure all appropriate documentation for any cheque payments are adequately filed
Ensuring expenditures and supporting documents are in compliance with donor regulations/audit requirements and coded properly
Pro-actively raising issues and concerns with PM in order to ensure project remains in compliance with donor contract and regulations.
Entering of all payment vouchers, ICJAs, receipts, expense declarations and petty cash vouchers into the accounting system for posting
Ensuring funds meant for program activities are disbursed and received on time
Ensuring adherence and compliance to the project budget, donor requirements, country laws, ChildFund Policies and Procedures.
Preparing timely and accurate reports for donors and project manager as well as the Regional and International Office.
Making the necessary field visits to the project areas
Participating in the project audits both internal and external as the need arises.
Required Skills
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting option) with at least CPA Part II.
At least three years professional experience in accountancy and administration in a INGO/NGO handling both Sponsorship and Grants funded projects
Working knowledge of accounting software such as quickbooks or CeDar.
Working knowledge of Statutory Deductions
