What You Will Do and How You Will Grow Summer Investment Associates drive the creation of innovative and results-oriented solutions for D. Capital and our clients – helping us change the development landscape around the world. Summer Investment Associates conduct in-depth analysis of potential social venture / venture philanthropy opportunities, including market analysis, competitive SWOT analysis for the relevant businesses, due diligence, business plan development, modeling and valuation of potential investments. In addition to providing training, partner-level advising, and mentoring, we empower Summer Associates to learn by doing, engaging them as full members of project teams from day one. Our recent Summer Associates have due diligenced a bioenergy company in South Africa, helped structure a fund to sustain program spending for Ugandan village health workers, advised on valuation and negotiation for an East Africa beverages company, and more. Our clients come to us with some of the most difficult global problems, seeking solutions where traditional philanthropy or commercial investing has failed. We supply new ideas, drawing from a deep base of knowledge that cuts across sectors and geographies and is growing every day. Innovation and entrepreneurship are not only valued at D. Capital fulltime. Our current opportunities are in Nairobi or Johannesburg. Applicants must be flexible to move to these locations after graduation should an offer be made.
