Senior Manager: Tageting

To provide direct output support to the Senior Manager Brownfields Exploration in targeting geology as a key input into the strategic growth strategy for Continental Africa Region (CAR).
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities:

• To provide direct output support to the Senior Manager - Brownfields Exploration in the development of a targeting database which includes geological targeting criteria for all CAR Projects, and a detailed target ranking of all CAR Brownfields projects to underpin the growth strategy of the region.
• Provide direct output support to the Senior Manager - Brownfields Exploration in the development of a sectional budget in line with CAR geology strategy.
• Provide direct output to the Senior Manager - Brownfields Exploration in building CAR's exploration targeting capacity, for e.g., in-depth training initiatives around mentoring, developing and training of AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) exploration personnel in the practical application of exploration targeting in gold exploration.
• Maintain effective working relations with internal & external stakeholders/ suppliers / contractors, on a continuous basis to gain commitment to the achievement of short term objectives and improving the quality of service.
• Assist with co-ordination of research activities conducted within CAR on behalf of the Brownfields exploration group.
• To provide strategic planning and co-ordination of a range of initiatives to generate new exploration targets utilizing all available geological data and proposing further work programmes to infill any data gaps.
• Identification and generation of new Brownfields exploration targets across CAR by collating, analysing and reviewing all available geological data including assays, geochemical and geophysical dataset using 3D geological modelling software.
• To develop a CAR target ranking of all Brownfields projects and manage its translation into priority geological modelling and exploration activities.
• Develop solid internal relationships and be able to influence strategic planning for current and future ore reserves whilst ensuring target information delivery procedures are in place.
• 3D modelling analysis to identify and interpret mineralisation styles at all scales in the target generation process.
• Provide support around the review and prioritization of research proposals in consultation with exploration managers and project geologists. Ensure AGA is appropriately represented at research meetings and that research outcomes are effectively disseminated to AGA personnel.
• Through interaction with educational and research institutions and industry peers, identify new technologies of potential relevance to AGA.
• Assist with the identification of new opportunities through regular targeting exercises in collaboration with CAR site geologists and Brownfields Exploration Technical Hub colleagues,
• Provide support around the assessment of business development activities throughout CAR as and when required.
• Providing direct output support to the Senior Manager - Brownfields Exploration by developing and implementing of a comprehensive and detailed targeting database; including a target ranking of all CAR Brownfields projects.
• Reviewing the quantity and quality of CAR geological datasets.
• Ensuring that reporting around exploration targeting is aligned with AGA standards and guidelines.
• Monitoring and advising on GIS/software systems to ensure retention of critical data.
• Provide direct output support to the Senior Manager Brownfields Exploration in identifying risks and liabilities during the target generation process, as this may fundamentally affect the success of CAR's growth strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• A post graduate qualification in Geology.
• A minimum of 5 years industry experience.
• A minimum of 3 years managerial experience at a Senior Management level
• The ability to speak French would be an advantage
