Job Description
Fenix International (http://www.fenixintl.com) is seeking highly motivated, creative and experienced C-level executives to serve as Managing Directors for each country of operation in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya. People in this role will manage teams and drive sales for the Fenix suite of renewable energy products. This person will work directly with the East Africa Regional Business Development & Sales Manager to support product launches, manage existing sales relationships, accelerate volume sales with early adopter customers, manage customer needs, manage new pilots, collect and analyze feedback, manage trainers and country technical staff, hire a team of sales agents and run a country office with inventory. This person will also contribute to development of leads and business in new verticals and geographies, as well as new product definition and development.

Candidates must have C-level experience in a corporate or startup environment with a passion for entrepreneurship, renewable energy and sustainable development in Frontier Markets. These positions will be located in Nairobi (Kenya), Kigali (Rwanda), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), and Kampala (Uganda) respectively. These posts will require some domestic and regional travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Closely manage relationships with leading mobile network operators who distribute the Fenix ReadySet
- Closely support product testing and pilots with multinational mobile network operators, international NGOs, microfinance institutions, and other distribution collaborators
- Guide marketing and distribution of Fenix products in collaboration with partners to achieve sales and revenue targets
- Manage sales and scale pipeline by working closely with senior managers of local partners and East Africa Business Development & Sales Manager
- Collect, analyze and report feedback to contribute directly to Fenix product and business development strategy
- Work with East Africa Business Development & Sales Manager to contribute to forecasting future sales
- Plan, hire, train and manage a team of sales representatives, trainers and technical staff
- Set up an after-sales service system and ensure high quality customer service
- Manage office, budget and inventory
Required Skills & Experience
- Significant C-level experience working at a mobile telecom, energy, or retail company
- Three (3) years minimum work experience, ideally in business development or sales
- Leadership experience
- Ability to customize and clearly communicate the Fenix value proposition, including quantitative and qualitative benefits to the customer and the consumer, for written and verbal presentations
- Experience hiring & managing teams in East Africa
- Keen understanding of the mobile telecom and/or renewable energy industries in East Africa
- Understanding of rural BOP markets in East Africa
- Ability to set up and manage a country office and inventory processes
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & Google Apps
- Ability and drive to work independently
- Bachelors degree
Highly Desired Skills
- Experience working with a mobile telecom in emerging markets
- Education and/or work experience in both East Africa and abroad
- Comfort managing CRM software packages such as Salesforce
- Business level competency of Kinyrwanda or French (Rwanda), Kiswahili (Kenya/Tanzania), and Luganda (Uganda) respectively
- Experience creating and managing budgets
- Technical fluency, such as engineering, computer science or other technical degree
- Marketing experience
