Save the Children
in South Sudan is looking for highly skilled and qualified persons for the
following positions:
Job Title: Construction Supervisor
Location: Akobo East, Jonglei State
Period: 9 months with possibility of extension
Job Purpose
The Construction Supervisor with the guidance of
the JFSP Project Manager, and in collaboration with other sector technical
advisors and officers, will provide leadership for all JFSP activities related
to construction in the targeted counties.
The supervisor will implement strategies to ensure the supervision of
construction projects funded by JFSP and other Save the Children in South Sudan
construction projects within the area of operations.
This position reports directly to the JFS Project
Managers at each field site and technically to the Save the Children
construction manager.
Key
Accountabilities
- Work closely with contractors and suppliers to assess and approve materials supplied for construction projects.
- Interpret working drawings, specifications and other documents to site agents and workers and ensure that project specifications are clearly understood.
- Assess and locate proposed construction sites in project areas and make recommendations to the JFSP and to the management team in Akobo, based on consultation with communities and local authorities.
- Maintain close contact with communities and local authorities and keep them informed of issues/constraints related to the construction projects.

Specifications
- Diploma in CE or Advanced Craft Certificate in either Carpentry and Joinery or Bricklaying and Concreting.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Fluency in at least one of the southern Sudanese languages.
- Good report writer.
- Good planner.
- Good team builder.
- Knowledge of PRA.
