Invites applications from South Sudanese Nationals for the position of C4D Officer, (NO-A), Wau (Fixed-Term Appointment)

Purpose of the post
Under the close supervision of the Health and Nutrition Specialist of Wau Field Office, contribute to programme planning, administration, implementation, monitoring and the evaluation of communication interventions with focus on polio eradication and strengthening routine immunization including teamwork and capacity building in the State of Western Bahr el Ghazal.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Design and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for behavior change with major focus on enhanced coverage during Polio campaigns and Routine Immunization.
• Undertake on-going field visits to UNICEF project sites for the participation in, or observation of project activities and local conditions.
• Collect and assemble social mobilisation and communication related data and background information with regard to polio eradication / Routine immunization interventions and provide updated information on the status of implementation of communication activities.
• Monitor the flow of supply and non-supply assistance for Polio National Immunization Days (NIDs) and other related activities. Collect and record information on polio NIDs supply/non-supply inventory, distribution and utilization
• Investigate queries regarding authorization, delivery or payments and follow up with Finance, Administrative, Supply and Programme staff on processing of payments, advances to governments and liquidation of accounts. Ensure that activities are in accordance with plans of action.
• Communicate with counterparts in the State on polio eradication activities on project details. Recommend course of action to the supervisor.
• Undertake arrangements for visits to project sites for government and other partners, which include providing information and briefing on polio communication interventions status in the State.
• Draft programme budgets, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of coding in accordance with relevant UNICEF’s system. Draft and issue updated status reports.
• Provide oversight and training to county-level Polio communication teams.
Minimum qualifications & experience required
• University Degree in Mass Communication / Health education/community health and/or Social Sciences preferably with additional communications training.
• Two year professional work experience in project administration, including data collection and analysis. Experience in social mobilization and communication in the field of public health would be useful.
• Fluency in spoken and written English; Knowledge of local languages of South Sudan
Remuneration: An attractive package will be applicable at the applicable UN salary scale.
