The Country Director will be responsible for leading the country programme through an exciting and challenging period of strategic realignment, with the support and direction of the London-based Programmes Director. The strategic realignment is intended to enable War Child to increase the scale and impact of its work with children affected by conflict-related insecurity, poverty and social exclusion, in the areas of child protection, education and livelihoods. This will entail: overseeing the current projects implementing outreach and re-integration programmes for girl CAAFAG in N. Kivu and street and working girls in Kinshasa, developing new project concepts for work in Kinshasa and North Kivu; and working with the London-based Programme Development and Grant Coordinators to identify and secure funding. The position will be based in Goma, with regular travel to Kinshasa. The Country Director’s core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Programme management • Human resource management and partner liaison • Fundraising • Child Protection • Security management • Communications and Reporting • Financial and administrative management
Contractual Terms o Preferred start date: As soon as possible o Salary: £31,000 – £33,000 (dependent on experience)
o Leave: 30 days/year o Allowances: Accommodation, 20 USD food allowance and medical insurance and R&R o Working hours: 37 ½ hours week
