FIND is a leading non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. It is dedicated to the development of diagnostic tests for poverty-related diseases in the developing world.
Overall objective:
As part of the Leadership Team, this senior professional will lead - both strategically and operationally - all FIND activities related to advocacy, resource mobilization and communications.
Job description:
Responsibilities
- Finalize and implement resource mobilization plan and activities for FIND, with a focus on active identification of new donors (including governments, foundations, individuals and industry).
- Actively participate in the preparation, writing and submission of grant proposals.
- Work with FIND leadership to effectively build the business case for FIND, and to tailor it to different audiences.
- Work with technical colleagues to ensure communications and advocacy objectives are consistent with programmatic goals.
- Support communications team in identification and follow-up of strategic communications opportunities, including with media representatives.
- Oversee conceptualization and preparation of communications and advocacy materials and tools, including Annual Report, website, factsheets, institutional presence at conferences etc.
- Cultivate relationships with a range of key stakeholders, including civil society, to increase awareness about diagnostics in general and FIND’s work in particular.
- As required, represent FIND in policy forums and discussions.
- Any other duties assigned by the CEO of FIND.
Qualifications / Experience
- An outstanding communicator with the confidence and ability to present scientific ideas and themes to colleagues, media, partner organizations and the public both orally and in writing.
- Experience with fund-raising/resource mobilization.
- An understanding of science, product development and global health is highly desirable.
- A proven track record in advocacy and/or communications.
- Excellent spoken and written English is essential, and good knowledge of French (in order to function in professional environments in Geneva) is desirable.
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders, from industry, civil society, governments and international organizations.
- Ability to produce high quality, accurate outputs under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Credibility, expressiveness and charisma are essential.
- Proven ability to manage a small team.
- Ability to operate at Leadership Team level.
- A team player with proven interpersonal skills, even under pressure.
- Diplomatic, constructive and with sound judgment.
