Kampala Area Federation of Communities (KAFOC) is a registered Non-Governmental Umbrella Organization whose affiliates are registered Community Based Organizations that include Nakulabye Family Helper Project (Nakulabye Community) in Kampala District – Rubaga Division; Mbuya and Bbiina Family Helper Projects (Communities) in Kampala District – Nakawa Division and Kireka Family Helper Project (Kireka Community) in Wakiso District – Kira Sub County. Through its affiliates KAFOC’s mission is to work with Children, their Families and Communities to fight Child poverty in all its manifestations including deprivation, exclusion and vulnerability. Kampala Area Federation of Communities (KAFOC) main funder is ChildFund International – Uganda. Kampala Area Federation of Communities invites applications from suitable and qualified Ugandans to fill the following exciting vacant positions at its secretariat and Community Offices.

Program Assistant [1 Position]

Accountability and Reporting: The position holders will report to the Finance and Administration Officer

Location & Base: KAFOC Secretariat Office with, frequent, work movement to the Communities above.

Key Result Areas:

  1. Procurement management and oversight.
  2. Supply chain management across Federation communities and structures.
  3. Front office / customer care management.
  4. Secretary to Federation Area Management Team.

Requirement:

  • Degree in Business Administration; Procurement & Supply Chain Management.
  • Diploma in business administration or Procurement and Supply chain management with relevant experience.
  • 1 year experience in a procurement related position preferably with an NGO or community based organization.
  • Demonstrable team work.
  • High level of personal integrity, honesty and accountability.
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work for long hours in a multi tasked environment.

Federation Accountant (1 Position]

Accountability and Reporting: The position holder will report to the Finance and Administration Officer [Technical responsibilities with Finance and Administration Committee of KAFOC.

Location & Base: KAFOC secretariat Office with frequent work movement to the Communities above.

Key Result Areas:

  • Management and oversight on Federation financial resources
  • Federation Assets over sight and management.
  • Payroll management.
  • Financial reporting,
  • Ensuring proper accountability.
  • Supervision of line reports.
  • Grants management.

Requirement:

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (Accounting), Business Administration (Accounting) or any other Finance management related field with a relevant experience.
  • Partial professional qualification in ACCA or CPA is an added advantage
  • Practical computer skills and experience with any accounting software is desirable
  • Excellent reporting skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Highly flexible and able to work beyond normal working hours, as need arises.
  • Demonstrable team work.
  • High level of personal integrity, honesty and accountability
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in NGO setting.

Community Development Officer [2 Positions]

Accountability and Reporting: The position holders will report to the Program Officer with a dotted line to the Parents Executive Committee Chair Persons at Community level.

Location & Base: Successful applicants will be required to be immersed and based in the community field offices in Mbuya and Kireka Communities with weekly travels to KAFOC Secretariat office in Bugolobi.

Requirement:

  • A degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Community Psychology, Development Studies , Education, Project Planning and Management & Social Development. OR A diploma in the above fields of study with relevant experience.
  • 1-2 years Community development experience with Non Governmental and or Community Based Organizations..
  • Knowledge of current debates in Basic education, Agriculture & Livelihoods, Early Childhood Development and youth empowerment.
  • Demonstrable skills in Program management including Monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrable skills and abilities in organizing and facilitating community groups.
  • Demonstrable experience in Leadership, Interpersonal relations and team building.
  • Knowledge and skills in budgeting, budget management, financial I program reporting and accountability.
  • Innovativeness, knowledge and skills in Urban / peri urban programming, informal sector development/support and Village Savings and Loans Associations' methodology.
  • Proven knowledge of participatory approaches / methodologies application in community development..
  • Proven knowledge and skills in Child participation / authentic children engagement.
  • Ability to work for long hours in a multi tasked environment.
  • Ability and willingness to be accountable to the Community people and the Children.
  • Ability to create & work through Networks..
  • Knowledge of the local language - Luganda
  • A letter of recommendation from your previous employer.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle.
  • Computer literacy.
Age limit 25 - 35 years.

Program Officer [2 positions]

Accountability/Reporting:The position holder will report to the Area Manager (Technical Supervisory responsibility) with a dotted line to the Federation Chairman (Community Administration Responsibility)

Location: KAFOC secretariat Office with frequent work movement to the Communities above.

Key Result Areas:

  1. Play a leading and participatory role in the development, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Area Strategic Plan.
  2. Provide technical assistance to Federation structures and staffs in Program planning, implementation and management.
  3. Capacity building of communities to be able to participate in program implementation, .monitoring and evaluation.
  4. Develop “a “strong” children and youth” agency at the community Level.
  5. Training & Development.
  6. Resource Mobilization.
  7. Representation, Networking, and Advocacy.
  8. Process Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation.
  9. Observe Sponsor Relations standards in program delivery and Ensure integration of Child protection issues in the Sectoral project plans, and implementation of Staff and Community federation structure management and appraisal.

Requirement:

  • Minimum of a Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Education, Community Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration, Adult and Community Education: with computer literacy.
  • A postgraduate Diploma/ experience in 3 years work experience in a Community development field with Non-Governmental and or Community Based Organizations.
  • Demonstrable skills in Program management including Monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrable skills and abilities in organizing and facilitating community groups.
  • Demonstrable experience in Leadership, Interpersonal relations and team building.
  • Knowledge and skills in budgeting, budget management, financial / program reporting and accountability.
  • Innovativeness, knowledge and skills in Urban / peri urban programming, informal sector development/support.
  • Knowledge and skills in Village Savings and Loans Associations' methodology application.
  • Ability to practically mentor, coach and offer technical assistance / support to line reports, community management structures and program implementation leadership.
  • Proven knowledge of/ participatory, approaches / methodologies application, in community development.
  • Proven knowledge and skills in Child participation / authentic children engagement.
  • Ability to work for long hours in a multi tasked environment.
  • Ability and willingness to be accountable to the Community people and the Children.
  • Ability to create & work through Networks.
  • Proven skills in local resources mobilization.
  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising through proposal writing.
