The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) (www.ataftax.net), a membership based multilateral organization, provides a platform to improve the performance of tax administration in Africa. The vision of ATAF is to promote efficient and effective tax administration to improving the living standards of the people of Africa.
The ATAF is an African organization to build capable and effective revenue administrations in Africa in pursuit of mobilizing domestic resources for development. The work and programme priorities of the Forum will be driven and managed by African countries, with the support of development partners, other tax administrations and international organisations.
The Role
Reporting to the ATAF Council, the Executive Secretary will:
- Provide vision, and strategic and managerial leadership to the ATAF Secretariat;
- Develop and implement programs to address capacity development in African Tax Administrations;
- Implement a research and technical programme;
- Communicate the African Tax Agenda in the global tax arena;
- Grow ATAF membership amongst African countries and build an associate membership base.
The Requirements
- Substantive experience at Senior General Management or Executive level.
- Significant experience in successful stakeholder engagement across a diverse stakeholder base.
- Good understanding of, and preferably experience in, taxation and tax administration.
- African Nationals from ATAF member countries will be considered for this position
- A strong leadership profile.
- Experience in and understanding of international relations and multilateral organisations.
Demonstrable track record in fundraising and managing donor relations. - Experience in the start-up of an organisation.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken), while a good working knowledge of Portuguese, Arabic or French will be an advantage.
The Qualifications
- An appropriate tertiary qualification
- A post-graduate qualification, preferably in the tax and development arena, will be an advantage.
