In Rwanda they have a KivuWatt project in Kibuye. We are seeking to recruit for Kivu watt individuals who are results driven and self motivated for the vacancies below;
1. Warehouse Helpers / Assistants - Kibuye
Reporting to: Warehouse Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare orders of equipment for the plant, which includes managing and selecting stock.
- Load and unload delivery trucks.
- Carry out quality control checks and count and record stock figures.
- Be responsible for completion and prompt submission of all related paperwork and the provision of other information as requested.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers other warehouse staff.
- Deal effectively and efficiently with queries and correspondence.
- Be aware of and follow all safety guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy in all paperwork and delivery quantities.
- Assist in other duties requested by the Warehouse Supervisor: coordinate workflow and make sure the warehouse operates efficiently, check inventories, manage incoming and outgoing shipment, plan stock needs, etc.
- Responsible for housekeeping of plant facilities & work areas under his/her responsibility.
Qualifications and Skills
- A-level or 2 year university degree in Engineering or Business Administration or proven experience on the field of activities of the position.
- Problem solving and result-oriented person.
- Good in operational English. Working Knowledge of French and Kinyarwanda will be an added value.
2. Operations Manager - Kibuye
Reporting to: Plant Director
Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize the operation team works and supervise the Operations team (Chemist, Operations Shift Engineers and Technicians).
- Prepare planning of the operation team.
- Analyze and validate the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports coming from Operations Shift Engineers.
- Valid the knowledge and define the training of the operation team.
- Settling daily weekly, monthly and annual reports to Plant Director.
- Analyze and valid the HSE operation team report.
- Analyze and define daily actions of the operation team.
- Ensure right implementation of the safety rules.
- Ensure the implementation and follow-up of the work papers (work permit and operating procedures) of the operation team.
- Ensure archiving of files (electronics and paper).
- Control the punctuality of the operation team.
- Organize the rotation plan of the operation team.
- Organize and analyze the energy consumption and performance of the plant.
- Organize and analyze the energy produced follow up.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with 10 plus years of experience in various field of activities related to operation and management of electrical power stations ,preferably his experience has to be as plant manager on power plant where he was involved in the first emergency maintenance activities ,working continuously with the maintenance manager.
- Good mechanical, electrical or chemical skills.
- Has worked in remote parts of Africa at operation sites of power generation and having the resourcefulness to adapt to ever changing job requirements and conditions.
- Familiar with contractor health and safety standards and the ability to enforce company H&S standards as well as environmental management plans as required providing a safe and healthy work site.
- Proven problem solving skills and ability to analyze project related documents such as operating and maintenance procedures, process flow diagrams, piping and mechanical and instrument drawings, and general arrangement as needed to interpret and respond to contractor questions.

3. Operation Technicians - Kibuye
Reporting to: Operations Shift Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring safe, reliable and commercially sound operation of the plant during the shift
- Monitoring and operation of 12 Wartsila gas engines, with electrical capacity of 8 MW each
- Start and stop the Engine in according to the instruction to the operation shift engineer.
- Monitoring and operation of other equipment, such as reverse osmosis plant, gas reduction station, electrical station.
- Making plant load related and other operational decisions according to the relevant standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring proper housekeeping in the plant, including the cleaning of the site and equipment
- Make exhaust analysis with the exhaust analyzer for verify the compliance with the local emission authorization.
- Keeping accurate electronic and paper records to comply with the company’s internal systems (including LOTO system) and procedures and the local, country-specific rules and regulations. Overseeing all aspects of operations at the plant site.
- Work on the Scada system for monitoring remotely the plant.
- Ensure a close monitoring of all parameters directly read on equipment/control panels/etc; In case of any anomalies/deviations, to inform immediately the Operations Shift Engineer.
Performance routine and emergent maintenance
- Identification and correction of simple malfunctions of the plant.
- Performance of routine maintenance on the gas engines according to Wartsila routine maintenance schedule.
- Inspect, valve clearance, ignition system, regulating rods, throttle valves, actuators, gas trains, oil filter inserts, crankcase vents, pre-chamber gas valves. Some of this maintenance will be performed independently while others will involve an additional specialist from the regional mobile maintenance crew or from our internal maintenance team.
- Verify the level of performances of the plant and correct the parameters in according with the operation shift engineer.
- Verify the performances of the reverse osmosis Plant and correct the parameters in according with the operation shift engineer.
- Verify the level of the oil and chemicals and prepare the daily list of the stocks.
- Open and close the electrical breaker on the low and medium voltage station.
- Verify the level of the usage of the spark plugs with the dedicated instrumentation.
Communication with the visitors of the plant
- The position will involve at least occasional communication with the visitors of the plant. Plant Operator will be expected to treat the visitors with respect.
Continuous improvement
- Plant Operator will be encouraged to identify and initiate operational improvements and innovations which will contribute to the enhancement of plant safety and reliability, work productivity, cost reduction, quality of service to the client. The management will provide an organizational framework for capturing, implementing and rewarding operational improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Mechanical or electrical degree or technical training / apprenticeship.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in operation of electrical and mechanical equipment on a power plant station.
- Well Disciplined and attention to detail.

4. Operations Shift Engineers - Kibuye
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure close monitoring of the demands from the dispatcher; and ensure that the demands are met in due time.
- Communicate with dispatching & ensure close monitoring of the load demands & achieving times (as per request and contracts with the grid operator)
- Maintain operation data log sheet, prepare reports, engine running schedule as per instruction by Operations Manager.
Provide necessary hand on training; communicate effectively with the team, - Ensure that all the operational procedures in place are closely respected.
Ensure that the “Work Authorization Process” (LO/TO) is strictly followed for all Equipment under his responsibility. - Respect the Health, Safety & Environmental ContourGlobal policies and ensure proper applications.
- Act immediately and responsibly in case of Fire, Gas Emergency Alarm and accident that might happen on site
- Supervise & perform the activities of the Operations Technicians.
Ensure maximum availability and efficiency of all the equipment under his responsibility. - Inspect & evaluate any abnormality occurs and handle the situation.
- Duly inform the Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager and the Barge Manager of the anomalies noted.
- Acknowledge & Ensure proper implementation of advices/instructions from Hierarchies.
- Closely monitor the quality, stock and levels of Fuel Gas, Lubricating Oil, Water, and others.
- Ensure proper and continual training of personnel under his responsibility.
- Bring in his inputs and to contribute in activities so as to improve the Operating Conditions of the Plant.
- Participate in performance tests (SFOC, SLOC, daily/weekly/monthly/yearly consumption calculations & reports).
- Help preparation of operation’s budget.
- Respect of the shift system of the operational team.
Qualifications and Skills.

5. Mechanical Technical
Reporting to: Mechanical Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support: coordinate meetings and plant visits, maintain phone list.;
- Maintain mechanical equipment and parts according to maintenance plan and expectations;
- Execute of all scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical activities of all on shore and off shore equipment (Engines, Common Auxiliaries, gas treatment and barge) as per Mechanical Engineer’s Instructions and Planning;
- Prepare data reports for Mechanical Engineer.;
- Keep proper records of parameters noted on site (running hours/flushing counters, operating parameters).;
- Give the right information collected to the Mechanical Engineer in due time.;
- Ensure regular and proper handling and maintenance of tools.;
- Ensure that advices/instructions are implemented and followed prior to approval from Hierarchies if need be;
- Act immediately and responsibly in case of Fire, Gas Emergency Alarm and accident that might happen on site.;
- Ensure that all LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures of equipment before/and after performing any task.;
- Respect the Health, Safety & Environmental ContourGlobal Policies and ensure proper applications.;
- Identify and correct simple malfunctions of the power plant and barge module.;
- Performance of planned maintenance on the gas engines according to Wartsila maintenance schedule up to 10,000 operating hours. This typically includes inspections, maintenance on valve clearance, ignition system, regulating rods, throttle valves, actuators, gas trains, oil filter inserts, crankcase vents, pre-chamber gas valves. Some of this maintenance will be performed independently while others will involve an additional specialist from the regional mobile maintenance crew.;
- Performance of planned maintenance on the gas compressor unit. This will typically include various inspections, replacement of oil in the compressors, replacement of filters, , cleaning of various components, such as exhauster impellers, the fins of electric motors, strainers and nozzles in scrubbing systems;
- Performance of similar inspections and planned maintenance activities on other equipment, such as gas compressor drilling equipment etc.;
- Identify and initiate operational improvements and innovations which will contribute to the enhancement of plant safety and reliability. The management will provide an organizational framework for capturing, implementing and rewarding operational improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in mechanics or technical training / apprenticeship;
- Minimum of 3 years experience in maintenance of mechanical equipments offshore and onshore;
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems and the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair all equipments.;
- Good in operational English. Working Knowledge of French and Kinyarwanda will be an added value.
6. Mechanical Engineer
Reporting to: Maintenance Manager
Job Objective
To assist the Maintenance Manager in maintenance for operations to deliver equipment and controls of on shore electrical power station and off shore gas processing facilities on the barge, as well as, maintenance of the subsea piping, risers and separators. The individual will monitor daily operation maintenance activities, to insure compliance with operations and coordinate maintenance plan for the power station and the barge equipment. In addition the individual will supervise mechanical technicians.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify mechanical equipment and parts according to the maintenance plan and expectations.
- Supervise all scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical activities of all equipment (on shore engines, engine & common auxiliaries and off shore gas treatment equipment) as per Maintenance Manager’s Instructions and planning.

- Supervise proper records of parameters noted on site (running hours/flushing counters, operating parameters).

7. Maintenance Engineer
Reporting to: Plant Director
Job Objective
The individual will be responsible for developing the maintenance organization and managing both planned and emergent maintenance to ensure the availability of the plants meets or exceeds our contractual obligations and internal targets. The manager will be expected to supervise a team (Mechanical, Electrical, CONTROL AND INSTRUMENTAL Engineers and Technicians) but also play a hands-on role, acting as a maintenance specialist as well as leading the team. In addition the manger will be in charge of the activities of maintenance at the power plant and for the off shore platform.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the execution of all scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance activities of all equipment (engines, engine & common auxiliaries on shore and platform equipment off shore).
- Use properly, monitor and handle spare parts, tools and operational equipment by him/her and the Maintenance team.
- Follow-up and participate in executions of all the different maintenance team activities.
- Ensure that the “Work Authorisation Process” is strictly followed and implemented for all Equipment before/and after performing any task.
- Ensure and perform all LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures of equipment before/and after performing any task
- Develop standard maintenance and respect the Health, Safety &
- Environmental ContourGlobal policies and ensure proper applications.
- Ensure continual training of the maintenance team.
- Supervise performance of planned maintenance.
- Develop maintenance philosophy (e.g. time vs. condition based maintenance).
- Develop a supporting electronic documentation of maintenance procedures, tracking and record-keeping.
- Develop optimal logistical infrastructure and processes for stock-keeping and optimization of the routing and scheduling of maintenance personnel.
- Develop performance indicators and set up a regular reporting system.

- The candidate has to motivate his team to maximize the efficiency of the barge and power plant equipment, he has to work on the preventive and predictive maintenance plan, he has to inform the warehouse manager preventively for the spare parts that he need for the maintenance, he has to provide a list of emergency spare parts.

8. Gas Equipment Technicians
Reporting to: Barge Supervisor
Job Objective
The Gas Equipment Technician wil be responsible for in installing, maintaining, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on several different types of equipment such as turbines, compressors, engine, and many other types of machinery. He/she also has a strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and instrumentation systems and the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair all manner of gas equipments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring safe, reliable and commercially sound operation of the plant during the shift.
- Start and stop the gas compressor in according to the instruction received.
- Operate such tools as picks, shovels, manually and electrically operated hand tools, air compressors, and air tools
- Wrap pipes and joints.
- Assist in scheduled leak surveys.
- Assist in the installation, repair, operation, and replacement of all gas distribution equipment.
- Perform elementary pipe fitting.
- Lay pipe, heat fuse joints, and install couplings.
- Prepare joints and install clamps.
- Assist in cathodic protection surveys.
- Install leak clamps.
- Operate and maintain pumping equipment, gas Engines on the barge, electrical generator on the Barge
- Read electronic gas maps.
- Provide troubleshooting help and analysis of equipment; review, inspect, and diagnose possible root cause, notify appropriate personnel regarding estimated time frame for repair, rectify issues; refer major repairs to Barge Supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with 10 plus years of experience in various field of activities related to operation and management of offshore platforms (oil and gas and/or power generation experiences)
