The African Media Initiative (AMI) seeks to strengthen the media sector, from an owner and operator perspective, so that it can play its full role in promoting social development, economic growth and in empowering citizens to hold governments and other institutions to account. As an organisation AMI is incorporated in the Republic of Kenya as a non-profit, nongovernmental organization and enjoys the benefits of a Host Country Agreement with the Government. As one of its core areas which is to strengthen its members institutional building, AMI is assisting Breeze FM, based in Zambia to fill out the following positions. The successful candidates will be based in Zambia.
SALES AND MARKETING ASSOCIATE
The sales and marketing functions provide the station's main source of income from the sale of advertising space and sponsorship opportunities. The Sales and Marketing Associate will be responsible to the Managing Director. He/She must have a first degree or Masters Degree is Sales and Marketing or related field. Some work experience will be an advantage. His/her main responsibility will be to assist the Sales and Marketing department with the total responsibility for the sale of advertising space and training the sales and marketing staff in carrying out the following functions;
- Developing the station’s marketing plan;
- Developing project proposals;
- Ensuring that the entire editorial area is targeted for advertising sales;
- Devising sales campaigns and ensuring a11 commercial companies and organizations within the editorial area are aware of Breeze FM's services;
- Setting advertising targets for the station and sales representatives;
- Developing of content and the creation of advertisements;
- Writing of advertising copy;
- Checking all advertising for taste and decency;
- Reviewing, on a regular basis, the station’s advertising Rate Card;
- Organize public relations events and promotions both on and off the station to attract advertisers;
- Keep a regular contact with all businesses that buy Breeze FM space;
- Listen to, view and evaluate advertising competition in radio, television and print media;
- Attend regular meetings with management and programme production teams; and
- Perform any other duties assigned to him/her by management.
