Duty station: Geneva Purpose of the post: Deliver GAVI’s vaccine supply and procurement strategy by coordinating GAVI Alliance members’ and other stakeholders’ market shaping activities to enhance competition in the market and expand GAVI’s supplier base Team: Policy and Performance Reports to: Director of Policy N° of posts supervised: 3-4 Career step level: 5
Key results expected: • Achieve a dynamic view of GAVI’s current and future supplier base • Inform GAVI’s future strategy as to future product choices • Inform entry/transition out decisions for GAVI funding • Inform possible trade-offs required within the supply and procurement objectives • Manage the provision of accurate and timely strategic demand forecasts for all vaccines (twice per year)
Main duties/ Responsibilities: • Lead the Market Shaping sub-team of Policy; • Develop and implement product strategy options in support of GAVI’s vaccine supply and procurement strategy; • Actively engage with manufacturers and partners to ensure that GAVI carries out its catalytic role in bringing new suppliers to the market and achieving its supply and procurement objectives; • Produce and maintain a dynamic view (roadmaps) of vaccine markets relevant to GAVI to derive supply scenarios and other analyses; • Communicate on all supply and demand issues within GAVI Secretariat (ad-hoc and formally); • Liaise with UNICEF Supply Division and WHO with regards to the development and achievement of supply and procurement strategies for specific vaccines; • Take the lead to ensure that all the strategic demand forecasts are provided on time twice a year; • Lead the AVI Strategic Vaccine Supply work-stream and provide information regarding existing and future GAVI strategies affecting supply and demand; • Collaborate with GAVI finance on supply and demand forecasting issues; • Develop and analyse policy scenarios; • Other activities as necessary in support of GAVI’s Strategic Goal 4 market shaping work.

Qualifications
Academic: Advanced University degree in Sciences, Economics, Development, Business Administration or any related field.
Work experience: Minimum 10 years of work experience in the following areas: • Vaccine or pharmaceutical manufacturing knowledge; • Vaccine or pharmaceutical product development knowledge; • Strategic planning / market analysis in an industrial, consulting and/or academic setting; • Product management experience at country, regional or global level in pharmaceuticals and health products; • Developing countries experience; • Experience in healthcare related manufacturing industry; • Public and Global Health experience an asset.
Skills/competencies: • Ability to lead discussions with multiple parties and at senior level
• Proven track record in business development and excellent deal negotiation skills • Strong vaccine product knowledge • Solid manufacturing processes knowledge • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious working relationships, both within and outside the organisation; • Excellent communication; • Good knowledge of institutional or organisation policies, systems and procedures; • Leadership and management skills (planning, finance, distribution, logistics); • Strong analytic and writing skills; • Ability to work independently, under pressure, demonstrating initiative and flexibility. • Extensive travelling required
Languages: • Written and spoken Fluency in English; • Another European language would be an asset.
