Function Specific Activities:
Record data from analyses or experiments in a computer, log book or laboratory notebook
Design, develop, conduct and/or review experiments (e.g., laboratory or process experiments) in order to deliver new products; evaluate ingredient, product or packaging safety, efficacy or claims; or evaluate new ingredients, materials, products or processes
Generate, document and execute a plan to select and/or develop technology (e.g., packaging, tools, processes, equipment, and products) including managing the change control process, in order to meet the project's specific objectives (e.g., improve quality, deliver new products, and optimize processes)
Conduct review of scientific or other literature in order to maintain and improve laboratory knowledge/skill, identify appropriate analytical techniques for projects/studies, or gather confidential information (e.g., information on activist groups)
Design, fabricate and evaluate/assess (e.g., through laboratory testing) a working package, equipment or product prototype/sample against technical requirements, fit to concept or performance specifications (e.g., functionality and operational feasibility)
Minimum Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or equivalent with either a major in sensory science, behavioral psychology or applied statistics
Related Work Experience:
Mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineer background
12 + years of work experience
Language Requirements:
Business level of Japanese
Proficient level of English

Technical Skills:
Proprietary Composition Information: Ability to recognize and protect proprietary information as it relates to formulas and ingredients
Basic Formula Management System: Knowledge of data in the Formula Management System, including reasonable value ranges and calculations origin, and the ability to recognize inconsistencies. Includes the ability to enter a formula or other information into the system and to generate reports
Basic Product Development: Knowledge of the product development process and the ability to contribute expertise in customs, hazardous transportation, worker safety and labeling
Company Formulas: Knowledge of Company-specific rules for creating formulas and formula codes
Ingredients: Knowledge of key ingredients used in production of concentrates and beverage bases (e.g., caramel, citric acid, benzoate, juice, phosphoric acid, maltodextrin)
