DAI seeks senior level technical specialists for an upcoming five-year, $25 million USAID project in Ethiopia focused on growing small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through financial sector development, business service growth, business environment reform, and trade capacity building (streamlining customs and facilitating export growth). The goal of the Finance and Business Services (FaBS) project is to substantially improve private sector competiveness in general, and of financial intermediation in particular, as key drivers of sustainable economic growth and reduced poverty in Ethiopia. These positions will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and are estimated to begin on/around May 2012. | |
Basic Qualifications: | |
BDS Advisor/Market Specialist: Responsibilities: • Provide daily management and oversight of Business Development Services (BDS) related technical assistance. • Manage the BDS unit under FaBS with collaboration of concerned staff, and in consultation with the COP. • Lead and mentor local technical staff in relevant technical areas • Serve as Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) as/when required. Qualifications: • At least 10 years experience managing projects and staff or similar size and scope as well as working with government at various levels. • Demonstrated managerial, administrative, reporting, and representational skills. • Must have a demonstrable skill in planning, reporting and presentation • Previous experience in training and capacity building of local employees • Master degree in a field related to either Finance or Economics is preferred • Fluent English is required • Experience working in Ethiopia and/or Africa is desirable Trade Facilitator: Responsibilities: • Manage activities related to AGOA trade expansion as well as broader reforms in Ethiopia’s trade infrastructure • Provide the required technical and administrative support and advisory service to COP in relation to promoting outward trade as well as related FDI. • Lead and mentor local technical staff in relevant technical areas Qualifications: • At least 10 years experience managing projects and staff or similar size and scope as well as working with government at various levels. • Demonstrated managerial, administrative, reporting, and representational skills. • Experience and knowledge of international trade show procedures as well as with cluster and/or special economic zone development models • Previous experience in training and capacity building of local employees • Master degree in a field related to either Finance or Economics is required • Fluent English is required • Experience working in Ethiopia and/or Africa is desirable | |
