The Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) is a government institution located in the capital, Kicukiro District having been established by the Rwandan government law No. 38/2010 on 25th November 2010 to provide research and extension services in order to improve agriculture services delivery. Among other missions, RAB is in charge of implementing the Rwanda Seed Initiative and the Rwanda FFS Initiative, which are financed by the program "Support to the SPAT II: Market oriented advisory services and quality seeds", funded by the Kingdom of Belgium under the number RWA 090711.
The Initiatives are implemented in the 4 different Agricultural division zones (Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western). For the execution of the Initiatives, the Rwanda Agriculture Board is currently recruiting the following positions:
Position: QUALITY SEEDS CONTROL OFFICERS
Numbers: 4(1 in North,1 in South, 1 in East and 1 in West)
Duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinate the improvement of the quality control system of priority crops together with the Technical advisors in the zone
- Participate in training development and priority setting
- Responsible to sensitize the seed multipliers in seed production on the national seed law and regulations and in different techniques r seed sampling in the stores of the seed growers
- Responsible for seed inspection and follow all steps in the production (Basic, Certified and QDS seed production).
- Responsible for recording all details concerning the Basic, Certified and QDS seed production in the agricultural zone
- Execute any other duties assigned by direct supervisors in the same area only
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree (AO) in agricultural sciences or in another area estimated equivalent
- Preferable practical experience from agriculture extension, working inside RAB or in agriculture projects
- Practical experience in technical backstopping and giving advice and in capacity building is an advantage
