We seek a motivated professional familiar with the Foundation’s work—and with an interest in public policy and communications— to provide project support to the Public Policy, Advocacy, and Communications department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in gathering and distributing press clips each morning
• Update journalist and Foundation news coverage database
• Assist in media outreach efforts, including but not limited to generating reports on media coverage of the Foundation and related issues
• Assist with digital outreach efforts to include social media
• Craft first drafts of press releases and press advisories as assigned
• Write fact sheets, issue briefs, and other communications materials as assigned
• Conduct research on relevant policy and communications subjects as assigned
• Complete special projects on public policy and communications topics as assigned
• Assist in administrative tasks, including assembly of press kits and mailing of packages to country offices
• Edit and proofread communications, public policy, and advocacy materials
• Assist with updating Foundation website using Content Management System
Required Qualifications
• Available 2-3 days/week
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be a junior or senior undergraduate student currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's program
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Able to multitask and work under deadlines in a professional manner
• Excellent communication skills; must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels
• Knowledge of Creative Suite for MAC and PC (CS4/5; InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Image Ready, Flash, Dreamweaver and Acrobat) and interest in graphic design a plus
• Interest in global health, policy, and communications a plus
