TITLE: PROGRAM ASSOCIATE
PROGRAM: FISTULA CARE PROJECT
REPORTS TO: SENIOR MEDICAL ASSOCIATE

Fistula Care is an Associate Cooperative Agreement Award granted by USAID to EngenderHealth. The purpose of Fistula Care is to strengthen the capacity of hospitals to provide fistula repair, to enhance community and facility understanding and practices to prevent fistula, to gather, analyze, report and use data to strengthen the quality of fistula services, and to strengthen the supportive environment to institutionalize fistula prevention, repair and reintegration programs.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Medical Associate, the Program Associate supports the coordination and implementation of partograph and family planning mentoring and coaching strategy and logistics management and infection prevention activities of the Fistula Care Project Uganda.
MAIN DUTIES:
• Support the Senior Medical Associate in the currently implemented partograph mentoring and coaching strategy, to ensure effective implementation and documentation of all processes including best practices of the strategies..
• Support the Senior Medical Associate to initiate and establish a mentoring and coaching strategy for family planning amongst service providers in the prevention sites including tracking on family planning service provision for fistula clients.
• Support the Senior Medical Associate in Infection prevention and waste disposal management activities in collaboration with MOH to include training, training follow up and sustaining these activities at supported facilities.
• Support country office with the Senior Medical Associate to fully implement the Medical Monitoring Workshop action plan including the development of other tools and materials as requested by MOH/FTWG.
• Collaborate with relevant technical and administrative staff in Uganda, New York, and elsewhere.
• Participate in dissemination and training activities of EH in the country, region and at international meetings.
• Ensure that lessons learned and potential best practices from activities mentioned above are well documented and disseminated.
• Where appropriate represent EngenderHealth at relevant meetings with donors, implementing partners and other external audiences in the country.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
• Graduate degree in public health or a related field, preferably a registered midwife with training skills.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in health programs, with at least 1 years of management experience.
• Knowledge of reproductive health services including family planning, infection prevention, EMOC, clinic-based maternity care; HIV prevention, care and treatment; informed choice and client-provider interaction; training in participatory and gender-sensitive approaches
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Significant experience in providing field-based support in RH.
• Fluency in English required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Experience in training health workers in East Africa at both basic and advance level.
• Have well developed documentation skills, able to write high level reports to donors, partners.
• Computer skills.
• Monitoring and evaluation experience with health programs.
