The College
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses nine departments, covering a wide range of specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English and Arabic Languages, History, Geography and Urban Planning, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication, Information Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Human Nutrition.
Position Summary
The Department of International Affairs at Qatar University, invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in International Political Economy, to begin in the Fall of 2012. The position is for three years and is renewable. Application to this position is open to scholars with academic expertise and research focus on Political Economy, Development or Globalization. The candidate must use effective teaching methods that utilize modern technological innovation to ensure the creation of an environment conducive to learning. The Department of International Affairs is committed to engaging students with a wide range of texts, theories and perspectives, and to helping create an inclusive and vibrant intellectual community at Qatar University.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Teaching undergraduate courses including International Political Economy; Politics of Development and Globalization
- Teaching other related topics or introductory level classes.
- Provision of a general educational lectures and sessions for students
- Active participation in the department, program and college committees
- Commitment to research and scholarship
Competencies:
Candidates will be considered for the position based on the following qualifications:
- Experience in teaching.
- Relevant academic qualifications
- A record of academic and research achievements that warrant appointment at the requested rank.
Qualifications:
- A PhD with a focus on Political Economy
- Relevant teaching experience
- Fluency in English
