Pepal is working with Bausch & Lomb, Sightsavers, the Rapid Results Institute (RRI) and INSEAD’s Social Innovation Centre to develop an exciting new leadership programme. The programme partners Bausch & Lomb managers with NGO leaders from international NGO, Sightsavers, to form joint teams which work together to help advance the agenda of eye health in East Africa.
To ensure the successful implementation of the programme, Pepal is awarding 4 internships based in Uganda and Kenya for 8 months. The interns will support the successful implementation of 4 eye-care projects and collect and analyse real-time data on behalf of Pepal and INSEAD.
This unique opportunity will give the successful interns frontline exposure to development work, executive business training from INSEAD and RRI, mentoring from senior private-sector managers and an opportunity to engage in action research.
“Working with Pepal has so-far been a challenging and infinitely rewarding position. It has allowed me to work on a meaningful development project and adopt responsibilities uncommon for most post-graduates my own age. Each day creates new learning opportunities and room for personal growth.”
Arnab Majumdar, Current Pepal Uganda In-country Co-ordinator

Sightsavers
Sightsavers is an international charity which works with partners to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people in the developing world. In East Africa, Sightsavers works closely with NGO partners and government service providers to improve the reach and effectiveness of comprehensive eye-care services provided in specific target districts. Their capacity to scale up their activities is restricted by a lack of leadership capacity in their public sector and NGO counterparts. For this reason we envisage that the teams will comprise a mix of Sightsavers, public sector and NGO partner.
