1.0 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – (6 Posts)

Qualifications:

Possession of first degree with minimum of 3.8 GPA with excellent results in the subject area or equivalent.

Duties:

• Writing scripts for radio broadcasts, video and audio cassettes, various reports and papers,

• Supplementing existing study materials,

• Editing, reviewing and translating course materials,
• Providing support materials, guidance and counseling and other services to students,
• Helping to keep students’ records correspondence and other communications,
• Helping in general academic administration as will be asked of him by seniors,
• Doing any other task as may be prescribed by one’s reporting officer, Dean of the Faculty or Director of an Institute and/or the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) from time to time.

2.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER- (5 Posts)

Qualifications:

Possession of a good Master’s Degree (B+ or above GPA 3.8 - 3.6) in a relevant discipline or equivalent after having attained a GPA of 3.8 and above at undergraduate level.

Duties:

As for Tutorial Assistant plus:

• Writing new study materials, scripts for radio broadcast, video and audio cassettes, various reports and papers,

• Adopting and/or supplementing existing materials

• Liaising with course writers, editors, reviewers, producers, artists, coordinators and other members of the course team
• From time revising course materials and audio programmes
• Giving public lecture, tutoring and leading academic discussions
• Setting and marking course assignments and/or tests, examinations supervision of field work, practicals and all other related academic activities

• Encouraging and motivating students to improve themselves academically
• Helping to identify and set up local study groups
• Conducting research work and disseminating research findings.

3.0 LECTURER - (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience

Possession of a Ph.D degree in relevant fields or equivalent professional qualifications for non Ph.D to be considered or relevant publications.

Duties:

As for Assistant Lecturer/Research Fellow with added responsibilities, he/she will be required:

• To tech face to ace course and lead seminars;

• To undertake individual research and participate in bigger multi-disciplinary research projects;

• To prepare manuals and case studies for training;
• To offer close supervision and guidance to students;
• To manage undergraduate programmes
• To undertake consultancy projects.

4.0 SENIOR LECTURER - (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience

Possession of Ph.D. Degree with teaching/research experience of at least three years and have published in academically renown journals whose weighting is equivalent to 8 points.

Duties:

As for Lecturers with added responsibilities, he/she should demonstrate the ability to head a Faculty, a Directorate, a Regional Centre, or a Department. In the case of Senior Research Fellows, they should be able to manage some moor research projects.

5.0 PROFESSOR - (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate should have at least three years of professional work as Associate Professor with extensive teaching and research experience. In addition one must have published study materials whose weighing totals eight points (for course units) on one good book with one course unit. For Associate Research Professor, Candidates should have eight course units or sixteen points or two books and two course units since last promotion.

Duties:

As for Associate Professor/Associate Research Professor plus the following:
 Conduct formal training proved leadership in faculty in specific multidisciplinary project conducted by the University.

• Provide personal guidance and advice to client in the field; undertake large consultancy projects

• Provide guidance to members of staff;

• Prepare and publish manuals or textbooks in related fields.
• A Professor is also expected to deliver a Professional Inaugural lecture within two years of promotion. A professor should demonstrate the ability to provide highest leadership in a discipline/research/supervision.

6.1 DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience

Possession of Masters Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Sociology, Business Administration, Law or any other relevant field with a minimum of twelve years of relevant working experience in a similar position and must be computer literate.

Duties

• Responsible to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Resources Management) for all matters related to human resources management of the University.

• Heads the Directorate of Human Resources Management.
• Provides professional advice to the University Management on all matters concerning strategic Human Resources Management.
• Develops and administers periodic performance and salary reviews.
• Organizes and directs staff compensation, development and staff relations in accordance with the approved policies.

• Develops and implements programmes and methods to document the University’s human resources Management policies and informs employees accordingly.

• Maintains staff discipline and ensures that justice is done.
• Oversees the administration of schemes of service, compensations and staff benefit schemes.
• Prepares annual personal emoluments budget proposals for the university for approval by relevant university organs

• Coordinates the performance appraisal systems for university staff.
• Develops effective HRM policies, plans and procedures for hiring, training, deployment, development and retention of staff.

NB: The appointment of Director of Human Resources Management is for an initial period of three years and is renewable based on performance contract.

7.0 SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT OFFICER (4 Posts)

Qualifications and Experience

Possession of Masters Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, Law or any other relevant field with at least five years working experience in a similar position. Must be computer literate.

Duties

• Organizes and supervises supporting staff services including confirmation and promotion.

• Participates in preparation of policies governing work priorities.

• Counsels employees who present problems of attitude and or /performance.

• Recommends disciplinary action for staff.

• Recommends changes in classification of job positions.
• Prepares personal emoluments budget for the University.
• Prepares training needs and budgets.
 Prepares quarterly, half year, and annual training reports for the Directorate and University.

• Deals with staff allocation.

• Participates in performance appraisals of staff

• Performs any other related duties as be assigned by his/her supervisor


8.1 HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT OFFICER II (1 Post)

Qualifications and experience

Possession of First Degree or Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Sociology, Law or any other relevant field. Must be computer literate.

Duties

• Allocates human resources, and communicates conditions of service to staff.

• Prepares human resources planning and training programmes.

• Deals with pension and terminal benefit schemes.
• Assists in collecting, analyzing and presenting human resources statistics.
• Assist in conducting periodic surveys to determine the prospective human resources demands and supply situation with respect to situations requiring the largest investment of time and money.

• Deals with staff welfare matters such as burial services and any other welfare matters required for members of staff.
• Assist in conducting staff performance appraisal.
• Performs any other related duties as be assigned by his/her supervisor.

9.1 PERSONAL SECRETARY I (2 Posts)

Qualification and Experience

Possession of National Form IV/VI Certificate with credit passes in English and Kiswahili or foundation course certificate plus Diploma in secretarial studies from Tanzania Public Service College or any recognized Institutions with at least five years working experience in the relevant field and Shorthand/Hatimkato 100/120 w.p.m and 50 w.p.m typing, tabulation and manuscript stage III. Must be computer literate in the following programmes: Microsoft office, Internet, E-mail and Publisher.

Duties

• Takes proper care of all facilities under ones charge.

• Types confidential and non confidential documents.

• Handles travel arrangement for senior officers
• Prepares meeting and records Proceedings.
• Supervises and guides junior secretaries
• Attends telephone calls and keeps appointment.
• Works with head of sections, units and departments
• Types letters, minutes, notices, bulletins, circulars, certificates, charts and stencils.
• Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

10.0 PERSONAL SECRETARY II (1 Post)

Qualification and Experience

• Ensures expedient, accurate and clean execution of duties

• Makes travel arrangement for senior officers and other officers within the Unit
• Prepares meeting and records Proceedings.
• Supervises and guides junior secretaries
• Attends telephone calls and keeps appointment.
• Types all general correspondence and non-confidential matters.
• Types letters, minutes, notices, bulletins, circulars, certificates, charts and stencils.
• Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

11.1 RECORDS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT III (1 Post)

Qualification and Experience

Possession of of Form IV/VI Certificate with two Principal Passes in Arts subjects and must have a credit pass in English at “O” level plus a Certificate in Records Management from a recognised institution. Must be computer literate

Duties

• Opens new files and indexes cards.

• Maintains an up-to-date register of office files.

• Files correspondences into the appropriate files and cross references.
• Copies correspondence to relevant files and attaches them whenever deemed necessary.
• Gives searchers numbers of files which are required for filing.
• Looks for files and collect them whenever required.
• Returns files to the cabinets and arranges them in proper order.
• Maintains up-to-date file index books.
• Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.

12.1 SENIOR LEGAL OFFICER (1 Post)

Qualification and Experience

Possession of LLM Degree plus one year attendance of Intern-ship /the Law School and must be admitted as Advocate of the High Court. Must be computer literate with at least five years of relevant working experience in a similar position.

Duties

• Scrutinises and effects registration of leases and transfer of properties in liaison with Estates Manager.

• Participates in negotiations for writing up of general contracts pertaining to such leases and transfer of properties.

• Represents the University in more complex legal actions.
• Liaises with retained external legal agencies.
• Interprets laws and other legal technicalities.
• Appearing in court on behalf of the University.
• Prepares legal briefs and provide legal advice to the Management.
• Compiles evidence relevant for court cases involving the University.
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.

RENUMERATION

Attractive packages will be offered to the right candidates commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance to Government Circulars and directives.

AGE LIMIT
