The Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) is a government institution located in the capital, Kicukiro District having been established by the Rwandan government law No. 38/2010 on 25th November 2010 to provide research and extension services in order to improve agriculture services delivery. Among other missions, RAB is in charge of implementing the Rwanda Seed Initiative and the Rwanda FFS Initiative, which are financed by the program "Support to the SPAT II: Market oriented advisory services and quality seeds", funded by the Kingdom of Belgium under the number RWA 090711.
The Initiatives are implemented in the 4 different Agricultural division zones (Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western). For the execution of the Initiatives, the Rwanda Agriculture Board is currently recruiting the following positions:
NATIONAL ADVISORY SERVICES COORDINATOR (Research and Extension)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare the planning and budgeting of all the activities of the Rwanda FFS initiative (Action Plan) and ensure its good execution;
- Prepare the reporting (technical and financial) of all the activities of the Rwanda FFS initiative;
- Coordinate all activities of the Rwanda FFS Initiative;
- Ensure that the whole FFS Initiative team knows the vision and principles of the Rwanda FFS Initiative and promote their implementation;
- Ensure coordination between the different projects and/or organisations working with FFS approach in Rwanda, and ensure that lessons learned are used to develop new orientations and strategies for more successful FFS implementation in Rwanda;
- Follow up and learn from FFS activities abroad and present the Rwandan FFS approach in international events
- In collaboration with the TA research and extension, plan, supervise coordinate and facilitate the activities carried out by the International FFS Master 'trainers
- Coordinate with the TA research and extension the process of identifying various specific experts to feed the ToT sessions with different specific topics
- Play a central role in organisation, coordination and monitoring the program of skilling/training Rwandan Master Trainers
- Assess the quality of other ToT, ToF courses from other institutions, organizations in view of allow to keep high quality standards, and assist them whenever needed (curricula development, FFS implementation, ...)
- Participate in all the other activities relative to improvement of participatory research and extension systems in Rwanda
Qualification
- Master's degree in Agricultural science
- Specialization related to crop production/crop protection with a minimum experience of 5 years
- A combined experience in research and extension under conditions prevailing in Rwanda
- Strong background in agriculture, preferably in ICM with the main crops found in Rwanda
- Sound understanding of and practical experience in FPS organization, implementation, from ToT and ToF) to FFS (as Facilitation or Master Trainer) or experience in rural training and transformation would be an important asset
