GAVI is looking for an energetic, talented and very experienced Managing Director to lead its newly restructured Country Programmes department. This person will lead and manage a talented and expanding team, whose primary responsibility is to deepen GAVI’s partnership at country level to ensure effective programmes in GAVI eligible countries to deliver measureable results. As a key member of the Executive leadership team in its Geneva based secretariat, the Managing Director, Country Programmes will be one of GAVI’s principal interlocutors with technical and implementing partners at a global, regional and country level.

The successful candidate will bring extensive senior management experience working under pressure in complex international organisations and must have experience working in GAVI eligible countries. Working with partners, GAVI has helped to bring to these countries new and underused priority vaccines not previously available to them. As a result of a recent funding round, GAVI has the financing to fulfil its 2011-2015 plan, which aims to vaccinate 250 million children and avert an additional 4 million deaths. GAVI’s business model combines excellence from both the private and public sectors and a commitment to run a lean organisation that makes a measurable impact upon global health including the long-term strengthening of health systems.
