Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University - Mathematics and Physics Centre
Applications are invited for positions in the Mathematics and Physics Centre at Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University. Candidates should have a PhD in pure or applied mathematics and experience in teaching university mathematics for non-mathematical majors both in Chinese and in English. Expertise in mathematical modeling instruction or a strong mathematical research background would be an advantage.
Successful applicants will deliver lectures in the areas of calculus, linear algebra and mathematical modeling in Chinese and English to year 1 students. S/he should undertake appropriate research, both in mathematical sciences and in the teaching of university mathematics. Good communication skills, team working spirit and a high sense of responsibility are essential. Successful applicants may also be required to undertake other relevant tasks, identified in the first instance by the Head of Centre.
Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a unique collaborative institution, the first and currently the only university in China to offer both UK and Chinese accredited undergraduate degrees. Formed in 2006, the first cohort of students graduated in August 2010. The university now has close to 5,000 students studying in ten academic departments. The language of instruction in Years 2 to 4 is English. XJTLU aims to become truly research-led, and has recently committed significant investment into research development and the expansion of PhD student numbers on campus.
XJTLU is located in the Higher Education Town of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), 80km from Shanghai and connected by high speed rail and road links. Salaries are within the range from 9,542 to 17,083 RMB per month gross depending upon qualifications and experience.
