Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) is a leading payments and settlement institution in Nigeria. Established in 1993, the Company is jointly owned
by all licensed banks, Central Bank of Nigeria and Discount Houses. It was set up as a Banking Industry Shared-Service to streamline inter-bank payments and
settlement mechanisms, and to promote electronic payments in Nigeria. The Company also provides the infrastructure for automated processing, settlement
of payments and funds transfer between banks, stockbrokers, discount houses and card companies.
NIBSS is currently implementing key strategic initiatives aimed at re-positioning and transforming the Company as a world-class payments and settlement institution.
In line with this drive, the Company desires to recruit suitabyl qualified, competent and self-motivated individuals to fill the following management positions:
Chief Executive Officer
(ES00614)
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing effective day-to-day operations of NIBSS and ensuring attainment of strategic
goals and targets. He/she will be an expert in the payments space and will lead NIBSS in executing its mandate, as a critical enabler towards the realisation of the country’s payment systems vision.
Qualifications, experience and attributes
•A good first degree in any related discipline from a reputable institution (management, economics or engineering).
Relevant post-graduate degree(s) such as MBA will be a distinct advantage
•Minimum of 10 years’ senior management experience in payments or related industry
•Expert knowledge and appreciation of the payments business, including emerging payment trends, regulatory policies, emerging payment methods and schemes
•Visionary and strategic thinker
•Proven track record of achievement and contribution to the development of the payment industry, including systems, policies and procedures.
•Excellent leadership and experience in general management/board level roles, with track record of achievement /results
•Well-honed skills to persuade, influence, negotiate, manage and sustain successful relationships both internally and externally.
Executive Director, Operations
& Technology (ES00615)
Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of NIBSS operations and technology, including technology infrastructure, application integration, operations certifications, network management, security and anti-fraud. He/she will provide global technical and strategic direction for a highly service-oriented NIBSS IT and Operations, and ensure smooth operations and high-availability of NIBSS’ infrastructure, including all systems and applications, a stable operating environment, and excellent operational service in line with SLAs provided to customers.
Qualifications, experience and attributes
• A good first degree in computer science, engineering or related technical field from a reputable institution. Relevant post-graduate degree(s) and/or professional certifications will be an added advantage
•Minimum of 10 years’ cognate experience in telecommunications, banking, electronic payments experience; proven leadership and experience in operations / IT management roles
•Demonstrable track-record of results in managing/overseeing the management of mid to large-scale, complex, and cross-functional IT related projects, and ability to work effectively in a highpressure/ demanding environment
• Strong working knowledge of relevant technologies, systems and infrastructure, operational requirements/ procedures, IT security standards, regulatory policies, certifications and trends within the payments space
• Strategic, with a service orientation mindset and excellent leadership, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical and communications skills
Executive Director, Business
Development (ES00616)
Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be primarily focused on strategy, product development and management, and sales/relationship management. He/she will be responsible for defining the appropriate business model to support NIBSS’ strategy, serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing clients, and manage all aspects of interaction with clients.
Qualifications, experience and attributes
•A good first degree in any related discipline from a reputable institution. Relevant post-graduate degree(s) such as MBA will be a distinct advantage
• Minimum of 10 years’ senior management experience in payments or related industry such as financial services, telecommunications and ICT
• Good understanding of various payment products and risk and compliance issues related to payments, including fraud prevention, anti-money laundering (AML), scheme rules, etc.
• Excellent knowledge and appreciation of the payments business, including emerging payment methods and schemes
• Strong commercial acumen and good appreciation of business strategy issues, customer relationship and business performance management.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, relationship management, negotiation and communications skills
General Manager, Finance &
Admin (ES00617)
Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of appropriate financial management framework to support the realization of overall corporate goals and objectives of the Company. He/she will safeguard the assets of the Company and maintain the integrity of the financial reports. In addition, he/she will have oversight responsibility for all the backoffice functions in NIBSS, including Admin, HR, Legal and Logistics.
Qualifications, experience and attributes
•A good first degree from a reputable institution. Post-graduate degree(s) in finance, economics or business administration
•Professional qualification(s) in accounting such as ACA
•Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a senior financial management position
•Previous experience as a CFO or Finance Controller will be an added advantage
•Strong analytical background, and demonstrable ability to establish goals and deliver results
•Strategic mindset, and strong negotiation skills
•Familiarity with major accounting applications
