KPMG’s Development Advisory Services Unit (DAS) is based in Nairobi, Kenya and has adopted a pan-African approach to development work, employing full-time experienced development experts within the KPMG Africa team at our headquarters in Nairobi, together with a network of champions across the twenty countries of KPMG in sub-Saharan Africa.
KPMG is the Local Fund Agent (LFA) for the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria grants in Sudan. We are seeking a high caliber individual to act as our focal point in Khartoum, Sudan.
Key role and responsibilities in this position will include but not limited to;
• Undertaking spot checks of training and other activities funded by the Global Fund in Sudan;
• Participating as an observer in CCM meetings;
• Providing technical, administrative and logistical support to KPMG team members based in Nairobi in relation to Global Fund related deliverables including financial and programmatic reviews of progress, independent verification of programmatic achievements, capacity assessments of the PR and sub-recipients and verification of expenditures;
• Following up on progress related to actions and recommendations agreed between the Global Fund and the Principal Recipient; and
• Undertaking other LFA tasks within the focal point’s area of technical expertise
The roles listed in this notice are not exhaustive. They may be expanded, reduced or modified at any time as KPMG continues to evolve in its approach to the provision of LFA services and consequently the candidate is required to demonstrate sufficient flexibility to make adjustments to service delivery.
Qualifications and experience required for this position are: •Resident in Khartoum, Sudan; • Graduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Public Health or related field; • 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting or Public Health • Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills; and • Willingness to travel within Sudan
In addition to the above requirements, the person should not have provided technical assistance or capacity building support to the principal and current/past sub-recipients of the Global Fund in Sudan or have participated in the design or implementation of grant activities.
Other desirable skills and attribute are: • Experience and knowledge of Global Fund architecture and systems • Experience in international development and in particular public health; • Language skills in Arabic are desirable but not essential;
