The department is responsible for the smooth execution of a portfolio of service contracts funded by the EU in excess of 60 MEUR across Economics, Energy, Environment, Regulatory Affairs, Justice and Home Affairs as well as Good Governance and Civil Society development.
PURPOSE
- The purpose of the role is to oversee the management of all aspects of large projects;
- The role entails the balance of corporate and client expectations;
- The role involves, on the one hand, building client relationships ensuring sustained value creation for clients, meeting quality expectations and mitigating against risk and on the other hand the need to meet company targets for growth and profitability.
The management of all staff of the department and provision of project management and support services, predominantly for EU financed service contracts, will make-up the lion’s share of day-to-day activities. Close liaison with other senior management in the upstream department will also be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management
- Provides leadership to department;
- Oversees senior project managers and project managers working on client engagements within department while maintaining a smaller portfolio of
- projects under his/her management;
- Sets corporate-wide standards for project management methodologies and tools, leveraging best industry and internal practices;
- Manages all aspects of large engagements, ensures quality expectations are met and mitigates any risk;
- Reviews high-level deliverables across department;
- Evaluates and redesigns department client solutions;
- Enforces compliance with corporate and client standard policies and procedures;
Client orientation/Relationship management
- Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies;
- Ensures department delivers superior solutions to clients;
- Continually defines ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships;
- Maximizes client and beneficiary relationships to develop or identify new business;
Business/Corporate management
- Acts as a change-agent, results-oriented driven leader striving for continuous improvement and challenging the status quo in all areas of influence and control;
- Ensures department meets or exceeds budgeted financial objectives, including revenue and margin;
- Achieves excellence in all areas of business.
Human resource management
- Enforces human resource policies and practices;
- Oversees the provision of the required knowledge, skills and techniques in project management at different levels in the organization to maximize project outcome delivery and overall organizational performance;
- Creates an environment where strong performers can successfully achieve professional career path goals.
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 5 years of P&L responsibility commensurate with this role;
- A minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a similar capacity;
- Demonstrated strong client solutions focus;
- Fully versed in state of the art quality management and compliance systems;
- A profound understanding of EU and other Donor’s policies and implementation frameworks;
- Solid knowledge of capacity building in Energy, Environment, Economics, Rule of Law;
- Successful management of multi-million EUR EU financed projects;
- Excellent negotiations and communication skills;
- Fluency and excellent drafting skills in English are essential;
- Professional command of French is a key asset;
- Academic Degree in business, engineering or political science;
- Internationally recognised Project Management Certification is advantageous.
