The BBC World Service Trust (WST) is the international charity of the BBC which uses media to improve the quality of people’s lives in developing and transitional countries. We do this through our focus on health, governance, livelihoods, climate change and humanitarian response. We work in partnerships with governments, broadcasters, civil society, donors and international Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
We need a qualified accountant with experience of reporting in an international context. A key requirement for the role is the need to establish effective working relationships with senior financial and non-financial managers and staff both internally and externally so you'll have very strong communication. Substantial experience in financial reporting and accounting, preferably within a charity and preferably within an international context is needed, as are your excellent IT skills in Microsoft Excel, with experience of using SAP, an advantage.
We need a proven decision-maker, with the willingness and ability to take the initiative in identifying problems and suggesting and implementing solutions. With your eye for detail and a concern for accuracy, you’ll have the ability to keep sight of the broad picture. As well as being able to present detailed and complex financial information in a clear, concise and readily understandable manner, you’ll also be able to think creatively around problems and arrive at a clear and well-argued solution.
