Project Accountant (open to TZ nationals only)

To ensure a high standard of financial and administrative management in the FARM-Africa Tanzania Smallholder Sesame Production and Marketing Project (TSSPMP) Phase II.

DUTIES:

To ensure compliance with the basic standards contained in the FARM-Africa finance
procedures manual (15%).
To maintain comprehensive and up-to-date project financial records (45%).
To assist the Project Coordinator with budgeting and reporting (10%).
To perform routine administrative tasks (10%).
To line manage 5 project support staff (15%).
To play an active role as a member of the FARM-Africa Regional finance team (5%).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• CPA (III) qualification

• Project accounting & fund management

• Budgeting

• Computer literacy (Quickbooks/Sun)

• Monitoring

Communications and Advocacy Officer (open to TZ nationals only)
To be responsible for the development and implementation of the communications, dissemination, publication and advocacy strategies of the Tanzania Smallholder Sesame Production and Marketing Project (TSSPMP) Phase II.

DUTIES:

To ensure that there is an effective advocacy strategy that empowers sesame producers to amplify their voice and influence policy and practices that negatively impact on them (40%).
To ensure that there is an effective, coherent and uniform communication and publications strategy that promotes the visibility of the project (45%).
To ensure the effective and successful planning, budgeting, monitoring and management of policy communications and dissemination engagements work in the project (10%).
To play an active role as a member of the project team (5%).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

• Relevant diploma level qualification e.g. ICT, graphic design, journalism

• Knowledge of Tanzanian radio, print & TV media

• Proficiency in design & editing software

• Experience of policy influencing and advocacy work

• Excellent writing & editing skills

• Design, production & printing of publications

• Strong interpersonal & communication skills

• Proficiency in written & spoken English & Kiswahili

Business Development Officer (open to TZ nationals only)
ROLE: To be responsible for all sesame value addition and marketing activities of the FARM-Africa’s Tanzania Smallholder Sesame Production and Marketing Project (TSSPMP) Phase II.

DUTIES:

In liaison with other project staff, to develop an effective and coherent plan for the sesame value addition and marketing component of the project (10%).
To ensure the effective and successful planning, budgeting, management and implementation of sesame value addition and marketing component of the project (65%).
To build the capacity of the sesame producer groups to develop profitable and sustainable markets for sesame (20%).
To play an active role as a member of the project team (5%).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• Relevant degree level qualification e.g. agriculture economics, agri-business

• Knowledge of crop production, marketing & oil crops policy environment in Tanzania

• Farmer participatory market research

• Project planning & implementation

• Data collection, entry & analysis

• Field level training

• Communication (both verbal & written)

To be responsible for all sesame production activities of the FARM-Africa’s Tanzania Smallholder Sesame Production and Marketing Project (TSSPMP) Phase II.

To ensure the effective and successful planning, budgeting, management and implementation of sesame development work in the project (65%).
To build the capacity of the sesame producer groups to manage their sesame husbandry and production sustainably (20%).

Project Coordinator (open to TZ nationals only)
To manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all aspects of the Tanzania Smallholder Sesame Production and Marketing Project (TSSPMP) Phase II with the staff team.

DUTIES:

To manage the project in accordance with project documents, work plans and budgets and ensure that work is consistent with FARM-Africa’s strategies and the conditions of donor contracts (50%).
To line manage the project staff (25%).
To manage and nurture mutually beneficial partnerships with other stakeholders (15%).
To keep abreast of relevant changes in government policy that could affect the project (5%).
To play an active role as a member of the FARM-Africa Regional team (5%).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor degree in a relevant agriculture/natural resource subject

• Experience of working with commercial enterprises

• Knowledge of the development & policy environment in Tanzania

• Project management
