Northern Consortium UK
The Northern Consortium (NCUK) (www.ncuk.ac.uk) is a leading provider of pre-university pathway programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate international students worldwide. Since 1987, NCUK has enabled over 20,000 students to study in our partner universities.
NCUK has a number of vacancies for External Examiners for its International Diploma in Business (http://www.ncuk.ac.uk/programmes/international_diploma/business), which is equivalent in level to the first year of a university programme.
The external examiner's role is to act as the final authority for the subject area. This will involve: approval of assessments in the subject area; the moderation of marking and attendance at the examination boards (which are normally held in NCUK's Manchester office, but may, for some delivery partners, be held overseas).
Payment is made on a daily rate with expenses being paid for attendance at NCUK meetings. A module leader should normally expect between 5 and 20 days' work from NCUK in an academic year.
An external examiner will have experience of teaching and examining students in the subject and at the level. Experience of external examining in UK HE is desirable.
Further details (including how applications should be made) can be obtained from http://www.ncuk.ac.uk/node/465
