IRC is seeking a qualified South Sudanese national for a position of:
Job Title: Driver
Duty Station: Rumbek, Lakes State
Main Purpose of Job:
Responsible for driving IRC staff members and transporting cargo to respective locations in a safe and timely manner. Responsible for proper handling of the vehicle, utilization of related equipment such as tools and completing of vehicle administrative procedures
Main Duties:
- Ensure good maintenance and cleanliness of IRC vehicle, including washing the vehicle to make it presentable
- Inspect the vehicle on daily and weekly basis and keep records.
- Make basic maintenance service on the vehicle including repair of punctures
- Maintenance the vehicle spare part accounting for utilization of the spare part stock to be discussed with Log/Admin Officer.
- In consultation with head driver and Log/Admin officer raise purchase request for needs spare parts.
- Daily and monthly reporting according to the logbook/log sheet and submit monthly to the Logistician in time
- Ensure the mobile radio in the vehicle is functioning before departure and that the vehicle is checked before departure. Keep regular radio contact with the base during a trip
- Ensure that all necessary equipment is always on board such as tools and water
- Ensure that the IRC vehicles do not carry any person with gun or a uniform or any other unauthorized person.
- Ensure the safety of the IRC staff
- Report all faults and problems note in the car immediately to the Log/admin officer and Field Manager and decision will be made on how to continue utilization of the vehicle.
- No mechanic, except the IRC one, is allowed to handle the IRC vehicle unless it is very urgent. Field manager must approve this decision.
- Respect the speed limit for town and road driving.
- Maintenance and ensure a proper usage of the toolbox tools and ensure their safety
- Responsible for replenishment of first aid kit in the vehicle
- Any other duty that can be assigned to you in cooperation with the Logistician or Field Manager.
- Ensure safe transportation of IRC personnel
- Ensure safe transportation of IRC materials
- Adhering strictly to the IRC’s vehicle policies and procedures, including the use of seatbelts by all passengers
- Daily and pre-long distance vehicle checks
- The accurate upkeep of the vehicle’ s log sheet
- Keeping the vehicle clean, fuelled and mechanically maintained
- Checking and maintaining all vehicle accessories
- Compiling vehicle monthly report(s)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Holder of Secondary School Certificate.
- Valid driving licence
- Written and spoken English.
- Pass score on IRC driving test
- Competence in MS word and excel will be an added advantage
- Resident of Rumbek
