RAND’s Global Health Initiative supports the development of health systems and health policy in the global community by analyzing, modeling, and assessing policy options for public and private sector entities around the world. RAND Health (http://www.rand.org/health.html) is seeking a dynamic, energetic leader and strategic thinker to enhance our impact and build our Global Health portfolio.

The Director of Global Health will define and pursue a vision for the Global Health Initiative while expanding its business base among domestic and international agencies and firms. He/she will also oversee the substantial portfolio of current global health projects. The Director is responsible for leading and guiding the initiative’s agenda, drawing on resources throughout RAND Health and other RAND units and regional offices while remaining true to RAND’s mission to improve policy and decisionmaking through objective and innovative research and analysis.

Researchers at RAND work on solving real-world problems, including identifying how global health systems function and determining where and how change needs to occur. Among current projects, Global Health researchers are providing policy relevant findings on health system reform and planning in Iraq and Qatar, developing health research capacity in Uganda, evaluating the impact of faith based organizations on HIV care in Latin America, defining strategies to improve access to medicines for non-communicable diseases in the developing world and estimating the global cost of cataract blindness. In addition to a large array of government- and foundation-funded research projects, RAND Health conducts nonproprietary research and analysis on issues of public interest on behalf of non-governmental health care organizations and firms domestically and globally. A hallmark of RAND is building multidisciplinary teams that can include health policy researchers, economists, physicians, psychologists, epidemiologists, systems engineers, information scientists, sociologists, and others to tackle important policy questions facing the world today. RAND researchers apply rigorous, empirical research designs to analyze health policy issues and evaluate programs.

· Strengthening & leveraging existing relationships and developing new business with domestic and int’l funders.

· Facilitating establishment of partnerships with other (especially non-US) global health agencies, institutions & NGOs.
