IRC is seeking a qualified South Sudanese national for a position of:
Job Title: Community Case Management Officer
Duty Station: Malualkon, Northern Bahr el Ghazal
Main Purpose of Job:
The CCM Officer is responsible for the day to day management and smooth running of the Community Case Management program.
Main Duties:
The CCM Officer is responsible for the overall management and smooth running of the Community Case Management program, which aims to lower under-5 mortality rates through community-based identification, treatment and prevention of the 3 major childhood diseases: malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia. She/he will be involved in training, supervising and assisting local staff to ensure the best possible health care services are delivered to patients. She/he will work in constant collaboration with the IRC Community Case Management Manager, Health Program Manager, Village Health Committees, County Health Department, other local authorities and community members in order to share health issues so as to improve/promote the health of the community
· In collaboration with CCM Manager, ensure that the local authorities and particularly the County Health Department is involved in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the CCM program
· Supervise and provide clinical diagnosis and treatment of disease at community level, and at times in outpatient & inpatient settings.
· Assist in the management of the PHCU/C, focusing on disease prevention and treatment of the main causes of morbidity
· Responsible for emergency obstetrical care and supervision of referral cases, in the absence of the Clinical Officer.
· At times may be asked to investigate and respond to outbreaks (in line with WHO guidelines)
· Ensure that monthly activities for CBD supervisors are planned for and followed according to schedule
· Provide close supervision to CBD Supervisors, including on the job mentoring and support as required, ensuring that the CCM Manager is kept informed about any issues
· Responsible for control and management of all drugs, diagnostic equipment and materials used in CCM program including raising Purchase Requests for local/ regional/ international procurement of new items as necessary.
· Responsible for identifying and ensuring health staff training and development needs are met
· Planning, preparation and facilitation of CBD Supervisor and CBD training sessions using a variety of participative teaching methods.
· Deputize for the CCM Manager role on occasion, including overall program management; work planning; attendance at National/ State/ County level meetings and workshops
Reporting:
· Responsible for compiling monthly health activity reports in timely manner
· Responsible for accurate record keeping, ordering and accountability of medical equipment, supplies and drugs.
· Orient new staff and visitors on CCM and PHC activities
· Attend and participate in program and IRC team meetings
· Hold regular planning and coordination meetings with all CBD Supervisors and Trainers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should be a qualified Clinical Officer with diploma in preventive and curative medicine or a Certificate of Public Health or Registered/ Certified Nurse.
- Working experience of at least one year in Primary Health Care/ Community Case Management programs
- Should be able to work with minimal supervision
- Should be able to plan his/her work daily
- Should be able to write a report in English
- Should be computer literate (Microsoft word and excel).
- Ability to work in a remote area
- Should be a team player
