DAI seeks Chief of Party (COP) candidates for an upcoming five-year, $25 million USAID project in Ethiopia focused on growing small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through financial sector development, business service growth, business environment reform, and trade capacity building (streamlining customs and facilitating export growth). The goal of the Finance and Business Services (FaBS) project is to substantially improve private sector competiveness in general, and of financial intermediation in particular, as key drivers of sustainable economic growth and reduced poverty in Ethiopia. The COP will provide overall technical leadership and supervisory management; serve as the primary liaison with USAID; ensure coordination between numerous stakeholders and participants; provide project compliance oversight and quality assurance for all activities including budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation; supervise staff and oversee the project’s monitoring and evaluation system. The COP may also serve as the lead of the project’s financial services component. This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and is estimated to begin on/around May 2012. | |
Basic Qualifications: | |
Responsibilities: • Manage all aspects of activity implementation in meeting the objectives of the contract, including overall technical, administrative, operational, and logistical management of the project. • Provide leadership and oversight to all project activities, ensuring their integration and synergies to meet project goals • Serve as overall component leader for the finance component. • Serve as primary liaison to USAID, Ethiopian officials, counterparts, and DAI home office management, ensuring clear communications and consistent expectations across all parties • Provide timely reporting to USAID Qualifications: • At least 15 years experience managing complex projects • At least 10 years experience in a relevant technical field • At least 10 years experience working overseas in a developing country context. • Master degree in a field related to either Finance or Economics is required • Fluent English is required • Experience working in Ethiopia and/or Africa is desirable • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of government counterparts and other key stakeholders. • Proven managerial, administrative, reporting, and representational skills. • Technical skills directly related to this project and previous experience in development assistance is required. | |
