ActionAid International, Zimbabwe is seeking a consultant to facilitate a financial management workshop for its staff and partner organizations. The workshop will be held over three days from the 24th – 26th October 2011 with a combination of programme and finance staff. The aim of the workshop is to enhance the capacity of participants in financial management. Workshop Objectives: • To build the foundation for a stronger, more robust and more effective finance function which can better support the partnerships’ programme work implementation • To equip the participants for their roles in financial management and the partnership • To inform participants of developments that affect their work and the environment in which they work • To actively discuss, consult and give input on areas that need to be fully embraced in the partnership • To address issues that will increase understanding of the finance function • To agree actions required in order to improve the quality of finance processes in the partnership • To get to know other members, share experiences and build lasting connections and networks. • To bridge the information gap between finance and programme staff
Expected Outputs By the end of the two-day workshop we expect to have staff who: • Are better informed, better connected and better equipped to support programme work • Have a better sense of working together for the future • Have strengthened the network and individual contacts within it • Have improved on internal communication and skills to consolidate the work and support to the partnership.
Proposed Methodology Participatory approaches and tools should be used including presentations, discussions, case studies and group work.

Timeframe The workshop will be held over three days from the 24th – 26th October
Expected outputs/deliverables from the Consultant o Facilitation on selected topics o Handouts for participants on presentations made o A workshop report o Recommendation on topics to be covered in the planned workshop and in future workshops
Consultant Specifications An Accounting or Financial Management qualification and an appreciation of NGO operations. The Consultant should also have proven experience in facilitating workshops of the same nature.
