Job Description: We are seeking a Chief of Party to lead an integrated agriculture/nutrition Program in Uganda. This anticipated 5 year USAID-funded program will focus on reducing poverty by enabling vulnerable households in Uganda to improve nutrition and achieve sustainable food and livelihood security through integrated nutrition and agriculture interventions at the community and household level using a comprehensive and multi-sector approach. Interventions will be tailored to community needs and will adopt and build on existing programs to create connections between communities and evidence-based activities.
The Chief of Party will provide overall management and general technical direction of the entire program. S/he will be responsible to ensure an integrated vision between partners and actors and to maintain a focus on results. S/he will serve as a representative of the program, liaising with the donor, Government of Uganda and other partners. This position will be responsible for the overall tone of the implementation partnership and for ensuring collaborative learning as well as achievement of targeted results.
Basic Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. in international development, food security, livestock, agriculture, public health, nutrition, economics or a related field Ten years (including 5 years in Africa) of progressively responsible international work experience in implementing multisectoral programs with demonstrated strong management and coordination skills. Preferably five years of management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff Demonstrated familiarity with and commitment to gender equality evidenced by at least two years of experience working in projects that addressed gender equality in agriculture or nutrition Demonstrated experience working with USAID/USG and ability to deal effectively with donor organizations Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and provide leadership to a team Demonstrated technical capability to work in a complex and demanding multi-sector environment Demonstrated experience with USG performance monitoring and reporting requirements Demonstrated ability to produce well written technical reports to tight timelines
Preferred Skills/Experience: Ability to be based and work in Uganda Ability to produce high quality technical reports and documents in English
