Job Description (Duties):
Job Purpose:
Financial management of the in-country Sanlam Health operations, including but not limited to the management of operational expenses and budget control, premium collection and reconciliation, claims payment and reconciliation, operational and insurance fund cash flow control, management and statutory reporting, local governance requirement management and the management of local finance staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual budget for local in-country Sanlam Health operation and submit to SHI Head Office for approval.
- Monitor monthly local in-country expense against budget.
- Report monthly local in-country expense against budget performance to SHI Head Office
- Record all local in-country expenses and income in the country TB on the SHI financial system.
- Prepare weekly bank reconciliations for all in-country bank accounts against the country TB on the SHI financial system.
- Submit support schedules for all control accounts on the country TB, properly reconciled to the country TB to SHI Head Office before the end of each month.
- Ensure effective billing and collection of outstanding contributions.
- Monitor and review outstanding contributions (Age Analysis)
- Review recoverability of long outstanding contributions
- Ensure that Administration Fees are accounted for and paid from the claims account monthly.
- Ensure that Fronting Fees are paid from the claims account each month.
- Ensure that Commission is paid from the claims account for each country monthly.
- Day to day run of the office. (Paying of all office expenses).
- Handling all cash at the Local office.
- Attending to tax issues concerning your local entity.
- Implementing internal controls at your local entity.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with all business processes & procedures.
- Provides interface between Head Office which is in South Africa and the Local Office.
- Arrangements of travel & Accommodation for staff.
- Monitor cash flow requirements on daily basis.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Three (3) years experience in a financial services environment financial department.
- Two (2) years of management experience.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of Systems and Business Processes ie: PASTEL,HIT (Medical Administration System)
- Problem Solving.
- Planning and Organizing.
- Communication.
- Teamwork.
