We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the IT Innovation Department within the Technical and IT Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

SENIOR IT BUSINESS ANALYST
REF: IT_SIBA_OCT_ 2011
Reporting to the Manager, Analysis & Architecture the job holder will be responsible for gathering, detailing and documenting business requirements and propose ways in which the existing processes and systems can be managed to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Collect, classify, analyze and document business requirements as per set standards;Create designs to meet business requirements through existing IT systems or by filling missing gaps with appropriate new systems in accordance with enterprise architecture;Develop test-driven business requirements and functional specifications with other business units; Participate in technical/functional evaluation of bids for new systems; Generate process documentation that clarifies and validates how the organization utilizes business systems to meet business requirements; Ensure that IT systems are aligned with business processes, and engage business stakeholders in process reviews to ensure cost reduction improved turn around time; Promote proper release planning, guaranteeing adherence to business needs and priorities and keep stakeholders constantly up-to-date on progress;Review and validate test cases for accuracy and conformity to requirements;

Minimum requirements
Bachelor degree in Computer science or Engineering or Business related field; 5 years experience as a systems developer/business analyst in a busy IT development environment, 2 years of which must include experience in systems analysis; Expertise in enterprise architecture; Logical and physical data modeling, relational databases experience; Experience in writing formal use cases and other UML tools; Project Management training and experience.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
REF: TECHNICAL_PDE_OCT_2011
Reporting to the Principal Product Development Engineer, the holder of the position will engage in activities relating to web & WAP-site development and evolution of the Safaricom data products including integration to business systems. Site development duties include but not limited to specification, design, development, validation, documentation and evolution of the applications and associated services; performance management; ensuring integrity of the services; maintenance and fault management; and research on new software technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Developing service sites including integrating to business systems and reporting as per specification from business units ; Creating or editing images and graphics for website use;Determining all coding requirements for site creation including: e-commerce capability, forms and specialized scripts.Creating templates of approved website layout;Coding web & WAP-sites;Maintaining and enhancing web & WAP-sitesLiaise with network administrators and information security ensure site integrity; Track software advisories and releases to ensure site integrity; Regular evaluation & recommendation report on site performance;

Minimum requirements
BSc. in Computer Science or equivalent 2-3 years of experience in software development; Software development knowledge and experience: Software Development Process (requirements, design, implementation, review and testing) and Software Revision Control Software implementation knowledge: languages (C++, Java), scripting (JavaScript including AJAX, PHP, Python, Ruby, JSP, CSS, HTML, XHTML), libraries (Apache log4j), debuggingWeb applications frameworks: Java(Spring, Struts), PHPKnowledge of web design software: Flash, Photoshop, DreamweaverKnowledge of relational databases: Oracle, MySQL Proactive, analytical, confident, energetic and able to work under pressure with a positive attitude and good organization skills.
