1. Research Coordinator – Impact of Poverty on attainment of girl child education
The successful candidate will be innovative and will provide leadership in the coordination and overall delivery of University of Oxford-Plan Uganda research titled; ‘Menstruation and the Cycle of Poverty’. She/he will lead the project team in planning, implementation, partnership management and reporting of the project and is responsible for the timely delivery of the project; and with highest technical quality according to the objectives and approach in the project document and to the satisfaction of project stakeholders. Reporting to the Programme Unit Manager, his/her key result areas are:
Key Result Areas:
Develop quarterly and monthly implementation plans and budgets.
Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of school/ community research studies
Ensure adequate stakeholder consultations and participation at all stages of the project implementation
Collect, enter and analysis data and conduct follow-up surveys
Supervise and review research-related tasks assigned to research assistants
Prepare and share quality project reports as per donor requirements and the project monitoring & evaluation plan
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documents for accountability purposes
Document project achievements and ensure timely dissemination widely both internally and externally
Manage project resources efficiently and effectively in accordance with Plan Uganda policies and guidelines
Ensure Plan’s Child Protection Policy and Guidelines are adhered to in project implementation
Requirement:
Essential skills and competencies
Bachelor degree (preferred) in Social work, Education; Post graduate training related to research will be of added advantage
Excellent communication skills, both in written English and in face-to-face presentations
A minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar position in a reputable institution, preferably an NGO
Willingness to undertake travel in Uganda (at least 25% time on average per month)
Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research skills with knowledge of principles of research design
Excellent Interpersonal/human relations skills
Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills with attentiveness to detail
High level of professionalism in conduct and ability to maintain confidentiality and other research ethical standards
Knowledge of local language (Lusoga) is an added advantage
Ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, adolescent girls and community members
Familiarity and interest in children’s issues
Good computer skills with ability to work with spreadsheets, MS Access; SPSS, Epi-info, etc
Valid driving permit with clean driving record
