Job Summary:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF, or the Fund) is seeking an experienced IT project management professional to work in the Technology and General Services Department (TGS).
The TGS Business Portfolio Team (BPT), the IMF's IT Project Management Office (PMO), provides management support and advisory services for the Fund's portfolio of business/IT capital projects. The team functions much like an internal management consulting unit, bringing expertise in program and project management to bear upon a variety of assignments connected with business/IT projects. The BPT staff support IT governance, project sponsors, managers, and teams in improving the management of business projects in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of IT implementations Fund-wide.
As part of the BPT, the successful candidate will provide direct support and guidance to individual project managers as well as assist in overseeing, analyzing, and reporting on the status and health of the total portfolio on behalf of the CIO and IT governance. S/he will support a consistent, integrated, and comprehensive approach to IT program/project management to achieve better results and lower overall project costs, and serve as a Fund-wide resource for business project standards, methods, and information. S/he will assist with budget formulation for the portfolio, providing analysis and support for IT governance in their decisions regarding budget allocation. S/he will also provide support to users of MS Project and the Clarity portfolio management tool set.
Qualifications
- experience as a member of a project management office;
- experience in business planning, developing project management standards and methods, change leadership, managing project resources, portfolio management, project performance measurement, communication planning, and training/mentoring staff in project management skills;
- expert-level knowledge of the full business/IT project lifecycle, and a solid understanding of business process redesign and technology trends and developments;
- experience with MS Project (required);
- experience with the Clarity Project/Portfolio Management tool (a plus);
- strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Education:
Advanced university degree in project management, information technology, business, or related field of study or equivalent, plus a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in project management, business or a related field of study plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, is required.
