Reporting to the Psychosocial Advisor, the GBV Coordinator is responsible for the overall capacity assessment of NGOs/CBOs, identify gaps, strengthening and designing appropriate strategies to address the identified gaps and empowering them to conducting GBV prevention and response activities according to international standards. She will work with other CARE colleagues, communities, partner organizations, relevant government departments to design a monitoring, and evaluation system for the project. The GBV coordinator will represent CARE with collaborators, partners and communities in order to establish and maintain a high reputation. Effective coordination, networking, representation and documentation at all levels will be part of the expected deliverables of the position.
Key Responsibilities include to:
Contributing towards development of strategic and tactical program plans, ensuring the commitment of all stakeholders and steady accomplishment of CARE’s objectives
Carrying out partner capacity assessments in area of GBV as agreed with the Psychosocial Advisor
Contributing to the development of partner capacity improvement plans and schedule
Designing and developing learning interventions that will result in enhanced performance of the implementing partners and stakeholders.
Ensuring that partners and other stakeholders and the target communities are aware of relevant policy guidelines, technical standards and relevant commitments that the Government and other stakeholders have undertaken to conduct GBV prevention and response activities
Contributing towards project monitoring and evaluation activities in order to measure impact and ensure continuing improvement
Initiating, design and implement IEC/BCC strategies for purposes of increasing awareness on GBV and access to post GBV services.
Ensuring effective coordination and network system at the parish, sub county and district levels in order to maintain a high reputation.
Key Qualifications required
Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Gender studies, Development studies or its equivalent as well as a 2 year program field experience in the technical area of SGBV and Gender mainstreaming.
Two years successful experience in capacity building and institutional development of civil society, particularly with regards to gender/ SGBV programming and also experience in conducting trainings
strong skills and experience in M&E, advocacy and report writing, participatory planning techniques, and people Management a great asset
Sufficient knowledge of SGBV and gender transitional program concepts, policies, frameworks, strategies and components as well as with development concepts and frameworks.
Effective Communication in English including strong writing skills, and computer literacy in the commonly used software.
Proven experience in working with and supporting partner organizations.
