The management of the program will be integrated into the systems and processes of the Uganda Catholic Secretariat (UCS) for the purpose of sustainability and continuity. The Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB – the Health Department) will be the lead department managing this program which primarily aims at ensuring continuation of support to antiretroviral therapy (ART) program in twelve (12) health facilities within the UCMB network. In order to manage the ACT program, the UEC would now like to fill the following job positions that are still vacant.. Other than as specified for each job position, UEC seeks to recruit highly self-motivated candidates that are able to work with the rest of the team at the UCS.
Nursing Advisor (2 posts)
Job Summary:
The Nursing Advisor will provide opportunities for nurses involved in the care of patients with HIV/AIDS at the supported Health Care Facilities, update their clinical knowledge and skills and improve clinical decision making skills regarding patient care through nurse specific training and mentoring.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide education to nursing staff to increase their knowledge and skills related to patient care through nurse specific training.
Adapt educational materials, teaching aids and clinic reference materials to assist the HCF nursing staff
Conduct quarterly visits to HCF for needs assessment, mentoring nurses identifying challenges/problem solving including evaluation of current skill level.
Participate in training programs for nursing care, adherence and palliative care
Develop protocols for requisitioning and accounting for medical products and equipment for nursing care at HCF.
Support HCF nursing staffs at HCF to ensure a clean and safe environment for ACT program activities.

Requirement:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Higher Nursing degree: BSN required minimum, Master of Science Nursing preferred.
Teaching experience required.
Current clinical practice as a nurse
At least 3 years of recent experience in the care of HIV/AIDS patients
Excellent English language oral and written communication skills.
Capacity to work both in a team and independently and the ability to utilize adult learning strategies.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively to work with the staff of the HCF.
Ability to provide written communication in a timely manner and adjusted to various levels of comprehension.
