Bugema University is seeking to recruit experienced, dynamic and innovative candidates for the following positions:

Internal Auditor

Major Duties:

Internal Auditor is required to give an opinion to the Financial Committee, on the adequacy and effectiveness of the whole system of internal controls within the University, and the extent to which the Management Board may rely on it. The Internal Auditor shall develop an overall audit strategy taking account, available resources, knowledge of the University, the work of external auditors and internal assurance providers, the University’s risk assessment process and Internal Auditor’s own assessment of risk. Based on the overall audit strategy, Internal Auditor will undertake medium term and annual programmes of work to provide the required assurance.

Specific Tasks:

Appraise progressively the soundness, adequacy and application of the internal control systems and ascertain the extent to which the system of internal control ensures compliance with the University’s policies and proce­dures and State laws and regulations:
Ascertain that the system of internal control promotes the efficient and effec­tive use of resources;
Ascertain that the system of internal control operates to ensure that the assets of the University are properly controlled and safeguarded from losses arising from fraud, irregularity or corruption;
Ascertain that there are adequate controls to ensure reliability of accounting and other information as a basis for producing accounts and for financial, statistical and other returns;
Ascertain that there is an adequate internal control system to ensure the integrity and reliability of financial and other information provided to the Management Board and Confirm compliance with laws, regulations and Church/Government Guidelines for Universities.
Establish risk-based audit programs and identify risks in the business areas.
Conduct audit testing of specified area and identify reportable issues and dimension of risk.
Planning and Preparation of comprehensive/ complete reports of audit area.


Requirement:

Qualification and experience:

He/She should be an experienced Internal Auditor with operational and financial audit experience.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
5 years of experience with internal / external Audit.
CPA OR CIA is an added advantage
High Integrity , professionalism and ethical standards
A committed Seventh Day Adventist Christian
