The UNU is the academic arm of the United Nations System. Its mission is to contribute through collaborative research and postgraduate education, dissemination of knowledge and advisory services, to efforts to resolve the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare that are the concerns of the United Nations, its Peoples and Member States. The University functions as a think-tank for the United Nations System and for UN Member States providing knowledge-based policy advice.
HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS, P-5 Level
(DUTY STATION: NEW YORK, U.S.A.)
The Head of Communications has the responsibility for the development and implementation of the corporate communication and dissemination strategy and for the guidance of the communication teams at the UNU Centre and at the UNU Institutes and Programmes located around the world. He/She is responsible for energizing UNU communications worldwide and for carrying forward the on-going efforts to raise the profile of the University, in particular at the United Nations, New York.
Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent in journalism and/or communications, or a first university degree with a relevant combination of academic and professional qualifications.
Experience: At least 10 years of communications experience in a leadership role within an academic institution or international organization, covering areas such as knowledge management and sharing; public policy support and advocacy; website content development and delivery; and use of electronic and other media.
CHIEF OF HUMAN RESOURCES, P-4 Level
(DUTY STATION: KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA)
The Chief of Human Resources is responsible for the design and implementation of human resources policies that support the global development of the United Nations University. He/She leads the human resources function with a view to meet the talent attraction, performance management and training as well as career development objectives at the University.
Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent in human resources management, business or public administration, social sciences, law, education or other relevant discipline.
Experience: At least 10 years of relevant professional experience with a successful track record in human resources management in a large organization, preferably in an international environment. Working experience in a multinational academic institution is an asset. The candidate should have strong commitment to customer service.

Candidates should possess excellent communication skills with fluency in oral and written English. Working knowledge of a second United Nations official language is desirable. High energy leadership with strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
