Exciting Opportunity for GRADUATE ENGINEERS
Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Europe (SEWS-E) is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI). With sales approaching £0.5bn we employ around 15,000 people and are a diverse organisation with a presence in many European and North African countries.
SEWS-E is a Tier 1 supplier of complex electrical distribution systems to many of the world's largest manufacturers of passenger vehicles including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Renault, Peugeot, and Citroen. With eight manufacturing plants across Europe and North Africa, and together with distribution centres, engineering centres and sales offices, we are truly a multi cultural organisation with strong links with our parent company in Japan.
We seek to bring two Engineering graduates into the organisation to embark on a year long training programme. During this time the successful candidates will be based at one of our overseas sites with exposure to key functions, especially covering all aspects of design and manufacture. This is a rare opportunity to learn from shop floor activities right up to the many challenges faced by our teams of engineers and will include familiarity with many Japanese techniques utilised to ensure quality and performance and the opportunity to spend a month in Japan learning at first hand the "corporate way." The successful candidates will be mentored by a Senior Manager with full intent to progress towards Chartered Status with one of the Chartered engineering Institutions.
This will be a challenging process and success will be based on the ability to learn quickly in what is a very fast paced and dynamic environment. With regular assessment during the year, and a final assessment at the end of the programme, the successful graduates will then be placed into a key Engineering role within our Corporate Engineering Department, based in part on the needs of the organisation and in part on the attributes shown during training. In such a role there will be the expectation of being pro-active in seeking out opportunities for standardising product and process improvement across all manufacturing sites.
We are looking for exceptional talent that wants the opportunity to progress in an organisation that actively seeks out those with the attitude to succeed. Accordingly we are looking for first or 2.1 honours graduates in a core engineering discipline with the desire to fast track their careers to Chartered Engineer status. Among the attributes we seek will be tenacity, intellect, problem solving ability, ability to work under pressure, self starter, as well as the willingness and ability to travel to any of our manufacturing plants, sometimes at short notice, showing a flexible, can-do attitude.
The remuneration package for these positions will include a salary circa £22,000 per annum, participation in the contributory group pension scheme via a money saving salary sacrifice arrangements, private healthcare and dental cover and life assurance cover. In addition we will meet travel and accommodation costs for the duration of the programme and assist with the fees associated with gaining professional accreditation.
If you wish to be considered for our graduate programme, please submit your current CV along with a covering letter explaining your suitability for the opportunity, to Tracee Findlater, HR Officer, at tracee.findlater@sews-e.com.
Suitable applicants will be invited to a residential assessment centre, which will take place during November in the Midlands.
