ELECTRICAL TRAINING OFFICER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Electrical Training Officer to provide leadership, coaching and support to Training & Assessment Officers in the delivery of all Electrical related training. The incumbent must ensure that the Bulyanhulu Training Department delivers the competency and skills required to produce a competent workforce in a timely and cost effective manner.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provide input into the continued enhancement of competency based courses, session plans, materials, subject matter and execution of training in order to deliver a consistent supply of competent workers
• Coach and mentor Training and Assessment Officers in their professional development and ensure a consistently high level of training is produced.
• Provide Training and Assessment Officers with specific feedback on their professional development needs and develop action plans to address them.
• Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of training programs within your area of expertise, incorporating feedback from customers (Managers /Trainees)
• Closely monitor the progress of training participants to ensure satisfactory performance results and take timely and appropriate action as required to ensure the delivery of competent employees at the conclusion of the training program.
• Implement Barrick employee performance management processes with direct reports to ensure optimum employee performance and take appropriate action to remedy any substandard employee performance or behavior.
• Establish individual performance goals for all direct reports on an annual basis with quarterly reviews.
• Maintain effective training records in co-ordination with administrative staff, to ensure this information is available in a timely and effective manner.
• Participate in the employee screening process to ensure the best possible candidates are selected based on effective competency based testing methodology.
• Provide input into the establishment of an annual training calendar.
• Provide leadership, training and support to ensure that employees and contractors comply with safety and environmental standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
• Continually review every aspect of training activities to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• A recognized Trade Certificate e.g. Electrical
• Formal Induction / Training Qualification in Adult Education and or applicable Train the Trainer Program
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum ten years industry experience in the mining sector with at least three years in a training / development role and five years in a leadership / supervisory role.
• Previous experience in the successful development and implementation of Electrical Training Programs is essential.
• Previous experience working in a remote location is essential with African experience being highly desirable.
• Computer Literate; MS Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint.
