LDC is a semi-autonomous institution which is funded by government grants, donations and any other earnings generated from its activities.
Under the said Act, the day to day administration, management and policy implementation is the responsibility of the Director. The Director is answerable to the Management Committee which is the policy making body of LDC.
The Management Committee is in advanced stages of restructuring LDC and is seeking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Director to lead in execution of the restructuring process, ensuring growth of revenue, maintaining quality legal training and high academic and professional standards. Job Description
•• Director will be responsible for:-
Overall management of the Centre (budgeting, reporting, governance) as accounting officer.
Performance management of senior management staff.
Strategy development and implementation.
Growing the institution’s core and no- core revenue.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Management Committee.
Requirement:
Qualifications
LLB (Hons) degree from a recognized university.
Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. LLM, MBA, Diploma in Legal Practice, Graduate Diploma in Law) from a recognized institution.
Experience / Key competences
At least 10 years working experience, 5 years of which should have been at a senior leadership and management level in an academic institution of higher learning (regulatory or training), government department or a reputable private legal institution.
He/she should have considerable experience in strategic leadership and knowledge of corporate governance principles.
He/ she should have demonstrated knowledge of current thinking of legal education reform.
He/ she should have demonstrated experience in fostering revenue growth of an institution.
He/she must be computer literate.
